State elections officials on Wednesday provided an update on the review of signatures submitted by petitioning candidate for state senate Julimar Ortiz who hopes to join the August 9 primary against Democratic-endorsed Herron Gaston and incumbent Dennis Bradley in Connecticut’s 23rd District.
Ortiz currently sits at 1,547 validated signatures of Democrats in the district. She needs 1,585. The district encompasses two thirds of Bridgeport and a piece of Stratford.
On Wednesday, the Ortiz campaign announced it is contesting the count of the local registrar’s office.
We are in the process of contesting Bridgeport’s registrar, as we have already found dozens of registered Democrats whose signatures were disqualified for no clear reason, and feel confident that Juliemar collected enough signatures to be on the ballot.
The Office of the Connecticut Secretary of the State will resume the count on Thursday.
” …as we have already found dozens of registered Democrats whose signatures were disqualified…”
Did they find at least four (4) dozens?
