UPDATE: As a woman points out in an off-camera interview by www.doingitlocal.com, job losses cause some folks to switch over to selling drugs. According to reports a man was shot and killed Thursday around noon near Kossuth and Maple Street on the East Side. 1. *** Another cold-blooded murder on the streets of Bpt! Is it time to increase the number of P/D members on the gang task force? And I wonder how the nighttime juvenile curfew is working out in the city since its political start. Spring is here with summer just around the corner and time to get tough on crime along with the eyes & ears of residents helping out local neighborhood patrols, no? *** IT’S EVERYBODY’S PROBLEM ***

  2. As an owner of office space in Fairfield, I was able satisfy an inquiry for a small single office to a current Bridgeport business tenant who has heard two shootings too many for his marketing business.
There is a relation between public safety and economic development or perception of Wild West and economic devolution. And inside police overtime is projected to be $2.5 Million over the budget amount authorized in last year’s approval, by the time June 30, 2012 rolls around. Connecting the dots without the assistance of Bridgeport spokespersons is what goes on every day in the State’s largest City. And the serious matters bring action. Time will tell.

  4. Another life wasted in Bridgeport. What I don’t understand is why we have had seven murders since the first of the year. Look, I know the police can’t be everywhere at the same time.
In the ’70s and early ’80s crime of all types was very high. Today comparing stats crime is down.
The police department is about the same size now as it was then. The police are responding to fewer calls today than they were then. Many of the calls they used to respond to they don’t anymore, what you have now for certain crimes the call taker gives you an incident number and tells you to pick up the report in the morning. Maybe this is what they mean by community policing.
I think the chief and his four deputies are not doing their jobs. I know the street cop is but there are not enough of them per patrol shift. We are losing young people to the streets and to senseless murders.
BTW let’s increase to a 5-year prison term for carrying an unlicensed gun and make it mandatory.

  5. Goood Morning Mayor Finch, did you have a nice sleep last night? How’s that new City Charter working out? Maybe someone should be working on Gun Control.

  6. Among business and political leaders, statement-based conversation is gaining traction and replacing question-based posting, which is made obsolete by today’s robust media.

  7. Bullshit. Pure Bullshit.

22 Patrol officers at night on the streets.

I went to a UCONN Women’s basketball game at the arena where I counted nearly 30 uniformed policemen including THE CHIEF!!!
