By State Senator Herron Keyon Gaston:
In America, we do not crown kings. And the only way anyone becomes a king is if we bow.
We elect leaders—and when those leaders forget who they serve, we rise. Because without “we the people” there is no government. This is a fundamental right that is enshrined in our constitution from the founding of this “diverse” nation.
From the very beginning, this nation was born out of defiance to monarchy. The Revolution was not just a war of independence—it was a declaration of principle. Today, we stand squarely on this business. That power flows upward from the governed, not downward from the throne. That no single man, woman, boy or girl, no matter how wealthy or loud, can claim dominion over the will of the people. Nobody should ever get so high and mighty that they think they can look down on others and subject them complete domination and control. At the end of the day, we are interdependent creatures, and we all need each other, and rely on a higher power for strength.
This weekend we witnessed a groundswell—not of chaos, but of clarity. Across this country, people from all walks of life, yes, the rich and the poor and the in between, are standing up to say: enough. Enough authoritarian rhetoric. Enough cruelty masquerading as policy. Enough bigotry and hatred, and the dismantling of democracy under the guise of restoring “greatness.” How could you make something great when the nation was already great? Because of the generations of workers, immigrants, former slaves, soldiers, activists, and everyday people who built it, fought for it, and pushed it to live up to its ideals. We don’t need to go backward to be great—we need to honor the greatness that is already here: and that is the “diversity” of our nation.
The movement rising against President Trump and the extremist agenda he represents is not the work of one party, one demographic, or one region. This is a people’s protest—a vast, intersectional force built by organizers, parents, workers, immigrants, students, artists, veterans, teachers, and neighbors. From Black and brown communities who have long resisted systemic injustice, to LGBTQ+ activists demanding dignity, to rural families fighting to keep their farms and homes—the resistance is broad, deep, and unified by a single truth: we will not bow.
We will not bow while health care is gutted, while reproductive rights are stripped away, and while women and children are discarded by those in power.
We will not bow to strongman fantasies, fascist flirtations, or leaders who admire dictators more than democracy. We will not bow while children in Bridgeport and Chicago live in food desserts with underfunded schools and lacks access and opportunities that are afforded to adjacent communities. We will not bow while working families struggle to put food on the table, clothes on their backs, struggle to keep the lights on and to pay their rent.
We will not bow while the poor are criminalized, while childcare becomes unaffordable, and while working families are told to tighten their belts as the ultra-wealthy hoard more.
This is not just political opposition—it is moral resistance. And it is rooted in the foundational promise of a representative democracy: the power belongs to the people.
We are not spectators in our own story. We are the authors.
We are not subjects to a crown. We are citizens—with a vote, with a voice, and with each other. What we witnessed on Saturday at No Kings Day in Bridgeport is a reminder that we will not stand for anything less than for decency and respect from our government. We are a government of the people, by the people, and for the people; That means, all people- the rich and the poor, Democrats and Republicans, Independents and No dependents, voters and nonvoters, black, brown, yellow, and red, gay and straight, the religious and non-religious, the abled and differently abled.
A reminder that democracy survives only when the people defend it.
A reminder that silence is complicity.
A reminder that patriotism is not submission to power, but devotion to principle. So, we declare that No Kings Day—is not a slogan, but as a stance.
Against injustice. Against authoritarianism. Against absolute control.
For equity. For freedom. For democracy that works for all of us.The people are rising.
And we refuse to bow to Caesar under God.

“Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s.”
Good Luck. 🙂

IDK, people! Is it just me or do you find on disingenuous when you have a political side who emphasis their strength is “diversity” but can find the strength to use the word “white” 🤣
It is fair to stay this No Kings “rally” is left leaning politically, and you have Sen Gaston promoting that political agenda in this commentary. Yet it has to descriptions of that diversity and white was either omitted or rephrased.
I mean “rural families fighting to keep their farms and homes”. Would be like saying “urban communities fighting for equal school funding” 🤣
It not just this commentary but you are never hear the word “white” when it pertains to struggles for the political left. Teh most common phrase in “poor” that comes in the phrase, black, brown/Latinos, and poor people. JS
P.S speaking of hockey, not everything is about hockey, right Caesar? 🤣

Okay, at 11 p.m. the OIB jury will begin deliberating on the Konstant Cash trial.
Only three things can happen: Quilty, innocent or a hung jury.
I find defendant Konstant Cash quilty on 20 counts. Can you imagine the massive corruption by state officials that will take place, if the jury acquits Konsta Diamantis of all counts?
Good Job, God, country loving Americans. Rev. Democracy of God 🤷♂️
Way to exercise your rights. 🙂

Under God.
Here’s, unspoken words in John Casual Civics Conversation not being expressed. “Undocumented, illegal immigration is labor exploitation, perpetrated by both sides, in a sense at the expense of those human beings being let in and rounded up, in America’s political game. Without disregard for their humanity, being the “devils” in the unspoken “details”
That being said, CT (by extension any other state) should give temporary works/residential status until Congress gets it shit together in controlling who comes/migrates into America. Sure, it will not usurp Federal laws, but like Weed it hasn’t stop CT from selling and taxing it. 🙂
Clearly workers are needed that documents/illegal immuration performing, and like Weed, both parties saw well as the Federal Government, who have not cracked down on it says all you need to know that this ICE game is political and subjective in nature at the expense of lives, human beings.
As for the Funding associated the Feds can continued its spending bonanza. So, the states are going to have to pick up the slack for their social needs to it citizens, particular that Congress/Feds finds excessive and wasteful. Which is exploitation of the Federal taxation system. (I would think)
Good Job State/Feds JS

auto-spell check. 🙂
Documents, immigrants, as well as,
Though it is good see ICE raid employments, Besides, perhaps courts, and jails, that is the only place that I should be raiding, with heavy fines/penalties for businesses who employ them/exploit them and the Government employee’s responsible to the State.
Then perhaps the issues can move pass the charade of social spend on human beings and move the immigration issue to a comprehension resolution that has been the talking head game for as long as I can remember/played attention to it. JS
