Read Full Campaign Finance Reports From Democratic Candidates For Mayor

The campaigns of the four Democratic candidates for mayor have filed their first quarter fundraising reports with the Town Clerk’s Office.

Mayor Joe Ganim, no surprise, leads the field with $326,665 total raised with $285,736 on hand. Former Ganim ally John Gomes has banked about $200K with about $113,000 on hand. New candidate Lamond Daniels, a former Finch administration official, is next with roughly $79,000 raised and a balance of $76,000. State Senator Marilyn Moore trails the fundraising field with about $67,000 raised and $62,000 balance.

Discrepancies often occur in finance reports. A quick look at Moore’s filing shows a number of duplicate pages, see multiple pages for 99, as well as others, that call into question the actual amount reflected on the report. Based on the duplicate pages Moore has actually raised several thousand dollars less than posted on the report, unless other donations not reported make up for the number.

The Town Clerk’s Office confirmed the disparity in Moore’s report. The solution logistically is an amended report from the campaign with aggregate adjustments, not a big deal. Relevant to the core issue, however, is Moore, an incumbent state senator, raising sizably less than newcomer Daniels after scaring Ganim in a 2019 primary.

UPDATE: Moore issued an amendment to Town Clerk’s Office.

  1. Thank you for providing the data from Campaign Financial Reports currently filed.
The Summary seems to show Mayor Joe Ganim having raised $326,665 with $285,735 remaining on hand.
Summary shows adversary John Gomes raised $201,000 with $113,000 unspent thus far.
Summary shows adversary Lamond Daniels raised $ 79,000 with $76,000 on hand.
Summary seems to show Senator Marily Moore raising $67,000 with $63,000 on hand.

Incumbent with $286,000 and a bully pulpit with photo-ops for certain and budget time as a stage with well known identity by most constituents, although the melange of photos, some more hairy than others, may confuse newcomers a bit.
Opposition, raised $347,000 and have $252,000 remaining to spend on message, presence, and meaning that is trusted, or not..

More funds can and will be raised and show in future reports. Where will funds be most efficiently and effectively spent, with less than 1/3 of registered voters paying enough attention to raise their voice and vote? Time will tell.

    1. True that John, Juan Cortez Gamin may be a bit confused about the nostalgia of the old receding hairline. But Gome has his hairless photos plaster all along the Port. Gomes has spent nearly half of the 200k he took in in contributions on his photo ops, Billboards are expensive people. 🤣

I would think he’s going to have to replenish his coffer to have a ground game in the dog days of summer campaigning.

But you have to admit John, G2’s new hairy Juan Cortex gives G2 a new look of flash. 🙂 Everybody say, Cheese. 🙂
