Post Calls For Ayala’s Head

From the Connecticut Post Editorial Board:

Santa Ayala, Bridgeport’s Democratic registrar of voters, should resign.

And if she won’t, Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch and Democratic Town Chairman Mario Testa should come up with the mechanism to make it happen.

It is almost beyond comprehension that Ayala, the longtime Democratic registrar, on July 28 knowingly sent Mary-Jane Foster, an intended mayoral primary challenger, off on a fool’s errand with petition forms Ayala knew were flawed when she turned them over.

  1. Dose anybody think this dumb ass did this on her own? Finch, Don Mario and Ganim are the ones whose heads must roll. This God-forsaken corrupt State will not have anyone do this, it has to be the Feds.

    1. Why is Paul Ganim mixed up in this mess? He has been referred to as Santa Ayala’s “personal” attorney, but who is paying his legal fees? The Ganim Law Firm does not come cheap.

  2. They backed themselves into a corner this time. Santa is not that smart. Someone masterminded this whole fiasco for her. Now the Post is calling for her resignation, rightfully so. What happens next? Do Finch and Mario sacrifice Santa? Or does Santa say “they made me do it!” Jeez, you could write another book with this, Len. OIB.

    1. Finch and Mario have already sacrificed Ayala. She cannot survive public scrutiny for this and the past ballot fiasco. Public opinion has decimated her reputation and shone a huge spotlight on just how devious the Testa political machine can be.

Mario Testa., I’ve got news for you. You are not going to succeed in robbing ME of my right to be able to vote for the candidate of MY choice.

I’m more than pissed off. I’m offended you think I and my fellow Bridgeport voters are so stupid we will let this atrocious breach of morality go unpunished.

You and your minions are through. GET USED TO IT.

  3. I don’t understand Paul Ganim’s role in all this. His family hates Bill Finch. Joe bailed Finch out many times only to be stabbed in the back. Why would any Ganim help the Finch administration? Unless Paul knew this would backfire? Ahhh the intrigue!

    1. My father taught me something long ago. Always remember lawyers work by billable hours. This is about to turn into a feeding frenzy as all the sharks smell blood in the water. Victory is never certain, but it’s always Expensive.

  4. Kudos to the Connecticut Post for asking for Santa Ayala’s resignation. Also for acknowledging it was not only Foster who was insulted and humiliated. The supporters on the Foster team have worked hard and talked to hundreds if not thousands of voters. We support Mary-Jane and will continue until we cross the finish line. Ayala’s attempt to squash the Foster camp has been in vain. To think she hasn’t been advised by Finch and Testa is ludicrous. Well to the chagrin of the Finch campaign Mary-Jane Foster is moving full speed ahead. She intends to be the next Mayor of Bridgeport and it is my intent as well as all of her supporters to make her desire a reality. Her camp is as diverse as you can get. They are the true mirror of this great city. Thank you to the Connecticut Post for making a stand. You are on the right side of history and we the voters of Bridgeport thank the editorial staff for acknowledging a travesty. This was definitely the final straw for the Finch-Testa love fest of corruption and arrogance. The people of Bridgeport will stand up and be counted this September.

  5. I want Finch’s head. This is a flat-out LIE.

“We walked into an $18 million deficit nobody knew was there,” Finch said. “I haven’t raised taxes in three years. You can either dispute the facts or accept the facts.”

Let’s go back to June 23, 2008. This is the first Pol pod interview by Lennie Grimaldi with City Council President Tom McCarthy. Listen to the whole interview if you want but, listen carefully at 11:40 seconds where McCarthy reveals Finch knew the city was in a financial mess.

  6. Gentle people, I have said this before, and I state it again, the good taxpayers of the City of Bridgeport are paying for Ayala’s attorney fees just as we are paying for all the attorney fees fighting the other matters before the courts.

Praise to the CT Post. I am going to call today and re-activate my subscription for at least 5 years. You are beginning to appear to be like your old self!

My thoughts and prayers are with the MJF campaign to win this fight. If she does, as I recite my rosary, she will crush the Mayor in the primary and at last, the City will be given another life.

Pray! Pray! Pray! for that miracle.

  7. No one should ever forget Stafstrom’s behind a lot of this. The evil genius, the BOE plan as devious as it was, had his fingerprints all over it. Bellinger was his plant.

  8. So was Santa, but this seems more Americo and less Stafstrom. Bridgeport Kid not long ago you asked if there was “another” seat I might go after instead of Town Clerk. Registrar?

  9. Hector,
The smart and devious stuff is Stafstrom. The stupid and lowdown stuff is the others.
Speaking of stupid, where are those “ladies” of Finch? Mary and Godiva.

  10. WINNING,
Don’t lament the absence of the “party girls” with their fancy bar venues and their “lobotomy” shoes. Frankly, expect those shoes to create bunion problems for those ladies in the future, a prophecy that offers them more future pain than current pleasure. Know your podiatrist!

I heard one suggestion in casual conversation they were “professionals” or paid bloggers and I don’t mean Lennie has hired people to entertain us. Because they were actually annoying and took so many readers off topic. It was as if they had knowledge of people in the system but no cares about the principles of good governance and why Bill Finch has neither supported nor encouraged those principles to be active and growing in Bridgeport. Power and control thinking is averse to opening up the process of governance in the City. Of course, their reasons for Finch support were few and insignificant in the scheme of things.

Expect to see more of this “static” as time goes on. But don’t expect “conversion” experiences, like the wake-up call admitted by NORTH45 over the ROV actions, to be frequent. Time will tell.

  11. Why is it Ayala’s getting the blame when she was the one who first prepared the ballot correctly with 3 names and only changed it after Bartlett insisted on making it four names? It seems to me she is the one getting railroaded here by the mistakes of others.

    1. Ayala is getting blamed because she knew the petition was flawed when she accepted it. Her duties as a registrar also include providing guidance to the petitioners. She waited until the last minute to drop the bomb knowing full well the courts might not be able to respond in a timely manner. That’s not poor judgement … THAT’S STRATEGY.

SHAME HAS BEFALLEN UPON THIS ALREADY SHAME-FILLED TOWN.

    2. ReallyFrustratedBptDemocrat, let me see if I got this right, Bartlett insisted on making it four names on the ballot and Santa Ayala, Bridgeport’s Democratic registrar of voters does exactly what Bartlett tells her to do?

  12. Really Frustrated … all Santa had to say was NO when asked to add the 4th name. Her failure to provide service to the people is cause for her dismissal.

Several of the B’porters I know are not following the political chaos so it’s very important the MJF crowd reach the grassroots and end the tyranny and oppression that dominates politics in this town.

  13. It’s tempting to say “Off with her head!” but one draconian measure does not correct another. I’d be happy if she was led out of the City Hall Annex in handcuffs.
