The Bridgeport Police Department has confirmed the identity of the man found deceased in Bunnell’s Pond at Beardsley Park on Sunday as 38- year-old Stephen Hall of Bridgeport. Mr. Hall was reported missing by his family on 08/07/26. A Silver Alert was issued. Detectives had been investigating his disappearance since.

The department’s Major Crimes Unit, in conjunction with the Officer of the Chief Medical Examiner in Farmington, confirmed the identification through DNA, using the Rapid DNA terminals at both agencies. Mr. Hall’s family participated in that effort.

Two fishermen reported seeing an unresponsive body in a remote area in the northern part of Bunnell’s Pond at approximately 3:42 p.m. on Sunday. Patrol officers, detectives, firefighters and medics responded. An investigator with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner arrived a short time later.

An autopsy was performed on Monday morning at the OCME. The cause of Mr. Hall’s death has not yet been determined.

Mr. Hall’s body was removed from the pond by the Bridgeport Fire Department. He had clothes on, which his family confirmed were his. Mr. Hall appeared to have been in the water for possibly as long as a week, making the above identification process necessary.

The family of Mr. Hall has been notified of the confirmation.
