Participate In Public Library Community Survey

The Bridgeport Public Library (BPL) invites residents, visitors, and patrons of all ages to shape the future of the Library by participating in its Community Survey. Open through September 19, 2025, the survey will help guide priorities for programs, resources, and spaces across all branches.

The Community Survey is designed to gather input on the services, programs, and resources that matter most to Bridgeport residents, along with priorities to guide the Library’s growth in the years ahead. The survey takes about five minutes to complete, and all responses are anonymous. Participants may complete the survey online at bportlibrary.org/survey or fill out a paper copy at any BPL location.

“This survey is about listening and being responsive,” said Elaine Braithwaite, City Librarian. “Our libraries are the heart of the neighborhoods they serve, and input from patrons and residents will help us design programs, collections, and spaces that reflect what matters. Combined with the feedback from our community forums earlier this year, this survey will directly inform our new strategic plan.”

September also marks National Library Card Sign-up Month, a nationwide campaign encouraging everyone to discover the value of a library card. At Bridgeport Public Libraries, a card is FREE and provides FREE access to books, eBooks, audiobooks, movies, music, research databases, job search tools, language-learning programs, public computers, Wi-Fi, and more! A library card is a key that unlocks the door to knowledge, creativity, and connection for the whole community.

“Getting a library card is one of the simplest and most impactful ways to invest in yourself,” Braithwaite added. “Bridgeport Public Library is also fine-free, so there are no hurdles to accessing all that we have to offer and everything to gain.”

Here’s how to participate this September:

• Take the Community Survey: Share your voice online or at any library branch by September 19.
• Get Your Free Library Card: Sign up at any BPL branch or online. Enjoy instant access to books, eBooks, streaming services, and programs for all ages.
• Celebrate With Us: Throughout the month, BPL branches will highlight resources, programs, and activities that make the Library a hub for learning, creativity, and connection.
