Mayor Bill Finch will have a lot to talk about when he delivers the mayor’s annual address to the business community at a luncheon March 14, at the Bridgeport Holiday Inn, 1070 Main Street, noon to 1:30 p.m. Tickets are $50 for members of the Bridgeport Regional Business Council and $60 for non members.
So many topics to cover. The state takeover of schools, the Connecticut Supreme Court decision overturning it and ordering a special election for school board members, charter revision, public safety, city development and much more. What’s going on at Steel Point redevelopment area? What charter questions will be poised for voter approval? What about the budget? What about taxes?
For reservations contact Gail Solis at the BRBC, 203-335-3800. solis@brbc.org
What about corruption? What about business ineptitude? What about an overbloated administrative budget? What about the failure to develop any outside interest in rehabilitating Bridgeport?
Blah, blah, blah. Don’t believe a word of it. One lies and they all swear to it.
He’ll be preaching to Paul Timpanelli and his Tone-Deaf Choir!
I think it might be quite interesting to attend this event.
Don’t waste your money. Take the $50 and have a nice evening out with dinner and a movie.
1) Will there be a businessman present who will accept financial reports on his business every month of the year and not expect the 12th monthly report to be available to him or her for analysis?
2) Will there be a CPA in the room who would ignore forwarding that same report in as much detail as necessary for review and action necessary to the survival of the business???
3) And the missing 12th monthly report is the tip of the iceberg on failure to provide necessary information to such watchdogs as there are in the Bridgeport structure!!! But since it is demanded by the Charter and not delivered by the Mayor, why should anyone trust his statements about numbers?
4) Was Bridgeport prepared for the tsunami deficit they faced under Mayor Bucci 20 years ago?
5) Are they prepared for surprises any better today?
I have asked five questions in this posting today. If you happen to answer NO to three or more, you really need to share your opinion with your City Council person. When the Mayor comes in with a tax increase as part of his 2013 budget, your Council representative may be too busy to talk with you. Time will tell.
BEACON2,
Great and valid questions. I am a co-owner of a small company based in Bridgeport. If I answered no to any of those questions, I wouldn’t have a very successful business.
Please continue to ask these questions of our city.
BEACON2, let me compliment you for getting straight to the point with your 5 questions; sometimes less is more.
