Man Shot Dead In Black Rock

A Monroe Street man Saturday night was shot dead on the porch of his home in Black Rock, according to police spokesman Bill Kaempffer. Police say Curtis Stephens, 35, suffered a gun shot to his head as he entered his house at 179 Monroe Street.

“This is a very active investigation,” said Police Chief Joseph Gaudett. “Detectives are pursuing leads and we are working to support the victim’s family in any way we can.”

The shooting was reported at 11 p.m. Police found the victim on the porch of his home with a gun shot wound to his head.

The gunman fled on foot, according to witnesses. Stephens was pronounced dead at the scene.

Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact Detective Robert Winkler at 203-581-5224.

“We’re committed to bringing justice to this family,” added Gaudett. “Detectives are pursuing strong leads. This does not appear to be a random act. We believe the victim was specifically targeted.”

The victim appeared to be living under a false name, according to police, possibly because he faced an arrest warrant stemming from a previous drug offenses.
