Malloy, Grogins Announce Brooklawn Upgrades

State Rep Auden Grogins supported Dannel Malloy over Ned Lamont in the Democratic gubernatorial primary last year. The guv is starting to deliver district goodies. In fact, most of Bridgeport’s representatives in the State House, at the urging of former Democratic Town Chair John Stafstrom, wisely supported Malloy while a majority of the city’s party establishment supported Ned. Stafstrom also happens to reside near the area scheduled to see street improvements. I can hear John now: “Leonard, that has nothing to do with it.” From Governor Malloy:

GOV. MALLOY & REP. GROGINS ANNOUNCE FUNDING FOR UPGRADES TO BROOKLAWN AVENUE IN BRIDGEPORT

(HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Dannel P. Malloy and State Rep. Auden Grogins (D-Bridgeport) today announced that Friday’s State Bond Commission agenda includes an item of $250,000 to the City of Bridgeport for the revitalization of Brooklawn Avenue between Villa and North Avenues. The proposed project consists of improvements and repairs to the medians, sidewalks, site improvements and landscaping.

“Making improvements like these are key to the revitalization of our cities,” Governor Malloy said. “A reshaping and revitalization of this area will help Bridgeport’s economic development and vision for growth. I would specifically like to thank Rep. Grogins for her advocacy of this project.”

“These funds will significantly improve the Bridgeport portion of Brooklawn Avenue, an important gateway into our city,” said Rep. Grogins. “I’m thrilled to have worked with Governor Malloy to secure this money for landscaping and road improvements along this main thoroughfare in my district. We have seen the results of this type of project just across the line in Fairfield. I look forward to work commencing on this important project to the City of Bridgeport.”

The State Bond Commission is scheduled to vote on the item at its June 24 meeting at 10:30 a.m. in Room 1E of the Legislative Office Building in Hartford.

  1. Hey! What bullshit is this? Bob Keeley secured those funds first.
From Jody Rell when he was a State Rep.

Now Auden Grogins and Governor Malloy wants to take credit for it!

Bob Keeley started Gateway Projects Funds for Brooklawn & Black Rock. Now Grogins steals Bobs Keeley’s Gateway Project and money, and calls it her Idea! Rep. Grogins you need to explain yourself, you have a lot of balls!

    Now that’s low!

  2. While Bob Keeley worked hard to get legislative approval for funding for Bridgeport it was always Gov. Rell who wouldn’t spend it. It’s great to see Rep. Grogins and Gov. Malloy work so well together to actually make it happen. It is good to see Bridgeport projects coming to fruition after languishing for a decade. Nice job!
