Looney Asserts Marilyn Delivers Moore For Her District

Touting the money she has returned to her district, State Senate President Martin Looney on Wednesday campaigned with State Senator Marilyn Moore tucked in a Democratic primary battle with party-endorsed City Council President Tom McCarthy.

“In Marilyn’s two years in the Senate she delivered more town aid to the district than ever,” declared Looney in a statement.

Bringing home the bacon, and hammering that message home to voters, is key in these types of reelection battles. Connecticut’s 22nd State Senate District covers all of Trumbull, the north and western portions of Bridgeport and a piece of Monroe. The winner of the primary faces Republican Elaine Hammers in November.

Moore says funding increases to the district include $6.9 million for Bridgeport (up 3.3%), $368,000 for Monroe (an additional 4.8%), and $1 million for Trumbull (18.6%).

“These funds go towards education, investment in our hospitals, services for seniors, and keeping property taxes under control,” says Moore. “I am proud of what we have accomplished for my district. The relationships I have built in the chamber have brought us much needed resources to Monroe, Trumbull and Bridgeport. I am humbled by the support of my colleagues and leadership, and am eagerly looking forward to continuing the work I have begun: staying honest and committed to getting more and more results for the 22nd district.”

“Not a day goes by that I am not impressed with Senator Moore’s ability to get things done,” says Looney. “From fighting government corruption, to expanding healthcare, to fighting for paid family leave, she has effectively navigated a system not known for its speed. I would vote for Sen Moore if I was in the 22nd district.”

    1. Well, I do enjoy bacon. When I read all the supportive posts, I had a chuckle with my basted eggs, bacon, grits and coffee with homemade rugulah, just a chuckle. Good thing Looney cannot vote. 🙂
