UPDATE: Passes State House. Neighborhood activists with www.onebridgeport.com who successfully lobbied for legislation last year to regulate massage parlors and adult entertainment establishments have turned their attention to pass House Bill 6683 – Nuisance Abatement that “will provide law enforcement greater strength in shutting down illegal businesses, involved in a variety of criminal activities, including but not limited to: prostitution, human trafficking, drug selling, assaultive and dangerous behavior and gun violence.”

Supporters of the state bill have started a petition they will present to lawmakers during this state legislative session underway in Hartford.

From CT Post:

State judges could close businesses deemed public nuisances, such as illegal massage parlors and bars with multiple instances of drug sales or firearms violations, under legislation that was approved Wednesday in the House of Representatives.

“This is a quality of life bill,” said Rep. Auden Grogins, D-Bridgeport, who led the floor debate.

      1. Phew–I thought you left us, BRG! One question for you, BRG: Were you at the Capitol on Valentine’s Day marching for stronger gun laws? I don’t remember seeing you there. Oh well. I hope things are a whole lot better for you in AZ. Phoning in your concern doesn’t really count for much–but you must realize this, yes?

      2. Well BRG, with all the Choir Boys, Eagle Scouts and Seminary Students massage parlors inevitably attract as clientele, I see what you mean. What a total waste of money and time it is to close down these reputable and upstanding business establishments. After all there is not a snowball’s chance in hell ANY of them would cater to clients who carry guns. And I am even more convinced there is not an illegal drug that has ever passed through the doors of one of these fine Meccas of legitimate commerce. Water seeks its own level, dude. What turnip truck did you fall off the back of?
