Statement from Ned Lamont:
“Seeking asylum and a better life in America is not a crime. As Governor, I will welcome refugees and immigrants and I support policy of not deploying Connecticut’s military to the U.S. border. But that is not enough. As citizens of Connecticut and a country that is founded on immigration, we need to make our voices heard today to stop the horrific separation of children from their parents at the border with the Trump zero tolerance policy.
“Just this week we have seen Republican gubernatorial candidate Tim Herbst propose the creation of a “law and order” task force to eliminate sanctuary cities and rip more families apart. Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton has a history of cooperating with overreaching federal immigration authorities. Every single Republican candidate for Governor said he would welcome Donald Trump, the architect of these horrific immigration policies, to the state to campaign in the coming months.”
