Hennessy To Address North End Concerns

State Rep. Jack Hennessy will host an open forum on September 19th, 6 p.m. at the North Branch Library, 3455 Madison Avenue, to discuss quality of life issues in the North End including “a response to constituent complaints about rowdy college student renters.”

Hennessy says he will invite a variety of city officials to attend including Police Department, mayor, City Council members, Public Facilities, Zoning Enforcement, Blight Enforcement and representatives from Sacred Heart University.

Rowdy college students have been a source of concern for the North End for years. Sacred Heart University proper is located just across the Bridgeport line in Fairfield, but many resident students live in college dorms and rentals in city neighborhoods.

  1. It also accents another big problem … absentee landlords.

While some absentee landlords maintain their buildings adequately and most of the students aren’t rowdy, the few who are bad have a huge impact on the quality of life in the neighborhoods.
