Gear Up! Foster Plans Wednesday Rally at City Hall Annex

What did Yogi say: It ain’t over ’til it’s over. What would he say about Bridgeport politics? “City Hall Annex is always crowded. Nobody goes there anymore.” Mary-Jane Foster wants to build a crowd outside the Annex Wednesday at 5 p.m. at a “Rally for Democracy.” The Foster camp has hired First Amendment lawyer Alan Neigher to file a court complaint after Democratic Registrar Santa Ayala blocked Foster from a Democratic primary ballot spot. A Superior Court judge is now Foster’s only option to appear on the ballot for mayor in September. If that fails her other recourse could be a general election candidacy in November as a write-in candidate. Neigher and attorney Michele Mount (OIB friend MCAT) have been working throughout Tuesday for an expected court action on Wednesday. From Foster:

Our current mayor believes democracy doesn’t work and losing the electoral process for a while doesn’t matter …

Mary-Jane believes

the electoral process belongs to the people and they need their voices heard and have the right to vote!

Stand up and send a message to the powers that be:

DEMOCRACY WORKS AND BELONGS TO THE PEOPLE!

Now more than ever we need you to act!

TODAY:

Call 203-212-9465 to let her know that you believe she should be on the ballot!

  1. I will be at the rally for MJF but I will also be there for democracy. We the people have a right to vote for the candidate of our choice. This is the second time in the past two months our rights have been tampered with.
Santa Ayala & Ganim are machine shills who do what they are told. If these two don’t do as ordered they don’t get the nomination for their jobs.
Here is a question, what the hell was Ganim doing checking the petitions? What gives him the right to do so?

  2. There’s something Not Quite Right about all of this. Why is Santa Ayala consulting her “personal” attorney, Judge of Probate Paul Ganim, brother of disgraced former mayor Joseph P. Ganim? Squire Ganim is well connected to the upper ranks of the DTC. I don’t agree with the case law he cited. It’s a long-distance call that gets through albeit with a lot of static.

The rights of the people to petition the government for a redress of grievances shall not be abridged by a corrupt political machine.

  3. Wow, this whole thing smacks of some banana republic despot clinging desperately to power in the face of serious opposition driven by popular support, not backroom machinations.

Go MJF, Go People Power and Go Bridgeport!!!

    1. Armed might could not repel the common folk seeking democracy in Egypt, Tunisia and now Libya. Unfortunately this is Connecticut. Let’s hope we are able to overcome our innate apathy.

  4. The national news needs to be informed, Finch has made national over the dinner comments. Santa made national over ballot gate. Time for the country to know again of the joke Bpt is.

  5. If there is no primary, people need to do one of two things on election day in November: write in Foster or vote for Torres. And I don’t see enough people doing that to overthrow the despots who are in power who make Bridgeport the laughing stock of the state and nation.

  6. Before I throw in my two cents, a round of applause for Mayor Finch and Mario Testa for keeping us safe during this earthquake. Finch and Testa worked hand in hand with the USGS to make sure all of those earthquake tremors stayed away from Bridgeport.

Our Mario thou art on Madison Avenue, Hollow be thy name. Forgive these MJF supporters for they know not what they have done. Spare them of further tornadoes, earthquakes and ballot shortages and terrific weather for any rallies.

    1. A classy move for a classy lady! I wish I had the unmitigated couth and brilliance of mind and pen to re-write the Lord’s Prayer and insert a restaurant owner’s name into it! I am sooo pissed I didn’t think of it first! Utterly sickening. You got one thing right though, HOLLOW is his name. Really, really, really, really offensive.

  7. Mary,
Dear. You are only posting comments to annoy other bloggers. No gives a damn about your overpriced footwear or your priapic devotion to Bill Finch and Mario Testa.

    1. TBK–They care about Finch Nation. Strong leadership that is bringing Bridgeport to a brighter tomorrow. Holding rallies because your campaign manager is a buffoon is beyond me.

  8. Did anyone hear Denise Merrill on WICC’s “Talk of the Town” today? She was siding with MJ. She said the spirit of the law is the voters should decide an election. She said there is a remedy here but it has to be court-ordered. That remedy is to disallow the BOE candidates and let the rest of the slate continue. I would bet good money that is the result.

    1. I would put my money on that result, chs. Mary-Jane Foster is the best choice to lead the city away from the edge of the abyss. She also has the law on her side. Alan Neigher is the man to convince a Superior Court judge the people’s right to decide their future is being taken away by a DTC chairman more concerned with politics as sport than actually doing good for the people of the city of Bridgeport. Check and mate.

  9. chs–Denise will get a spanking from Nancy DiNardo and Mario for making those blasphemous statements. Foster supporters need to kneel before Mario immediately.

  10. “I respect Ms. Foster, but it is crystal clear that she cannot deliver the kind of reform needed to revitalize downtown, produce jobs, save our public education system, and make our streets safer. As Mayor, she would carry out four more years of Bill Finch.

“Ms. Foster wants to take control of the machine from Finch and take the reins for herself. I want to break the machine and destroy its suffocating hold on this City. I want to give control of this city where it belongs, to the people who live here. Only by breaking the control and power of an old, outdated, and often corrupt political machine that blocks progress, can Bridgeport truly move in a positive new direction.”–John Gomes

    1. Direct quote from Mary_Choen95:
“Bill Finch doesn’t fornicate. Everyone knows LM has a skin condition and can only wear bikinis during warm weather.”

      Typical Finch supporter.

  11. Mary_Choen95, wait a minute, have you forgotten what you have been posting? Now you write, “As Mayor, she would carry out four more years of Bill Finch,” but you are supporting the machine, is that what you want for the residents of Bridgeport?

  12. Ron–I am pointing out what we all know. Mary-Jane is not fit to lead. Just ask John Gomes. He is seeing that first hand and I am sure it makes him sick to his stomach to kneel to her and walk around with her in minority communities.

      1. Ron,
Don’t waste your time arguing with the likes of Mary_Choen95. It’s all about privilege with her and that dreadful bimbo Godiva2011. Neither of them gives a damn about the common good, only the fancy shoes, clothing and expensive dinners they earn for being Mario Testa’s pampered menial servants.

  13. Do Finch, Ganim and Testa think this third-world political garbage is going to attract any decent business or people to the city? I really feel sorry for the people of this State as well. I heard that ass Merrill on WICC today explaining why she could not help the people, because of the way the statute was written. The people of this State, sorry to say, have no one to blame but themselves. They re-elected the incumbents en masse. They got the type of government they wanted. To the rest of the people who have an IQ of 100 or higher I suggest you move if you can get a job elsewhere.

  14. I read the CT Post article about Ayala knowing from the get-go the petitions were flawed. Early on, I felt sorrow for her and her position–it has to be difficult to do the job in Bridgeport, I surmised. Reading she knew all along and never took any corrective action now makes me sick. She is sworn to uphold the constitution and one of those rights is covered under the Constitution–the right to vote for a person of one’s choice. She held that right in the palm of her hands, and chose to ignore it so she would be declared “queen” of the kingdom. It was her moral responsibility to make the parties aware of the flaw–if they chose to ignore her,so be it. That is what she is supposed to do–she is more knowledgeable than anyone else being in that position. She is evil, she is disgusting, and I hope, although I am doubtful, I hope there is justice through the court and MJF is restored to the ballot. And you know what, I did not think she had a chance against the political machine–but if she makes it back, she is going to slam the Mayor–she now will be picking up the sympathy vote and more people than ever will be voting because of this attempt on their privilege. Ms. Ayala should get out of town.
