From Mayor Joe Ganim:
Mayor Ganim announced a traffic light improvement project is underway at intersections on Main Street from Old Town Road to South Frontage Road. A total of twenty-one signalized intersection traffic lights will replace equipment that are at least twenty years old.
State of the art equipment includes installation of decorative black mast arms, signal lights, ADA compliant ramps, and sidewalks. This is project is administered by the city, with signals being owned and maintained by the City of Bridgeport Department of Engineering. The $15 Million improvement provides signals, markings, signage, and accessibility to all drivers and pedestrians, especially those pedestrians with disabilities.
The project is on schedule to be completed by September 2020 and remains hopeful that there have not been delays due to COVID-19 pandemic.
