Foster Opens East Side HQ

Democratic mayoral candidate Mary-Jane Foster announced on Friday the opening of an East Side campaign headquarters at 305 Knowlton Street. She has a main headquarters on Fairfield Avenue Downtown.

Foster issued this statement:

“The East Side is chronically neglected. I am reaching out to a community that is all too often overlooked despite its enormous potential.

“We need a mayor who can wrap her arms around this city and reverse the neglect incurred by years of incompetence and corruption. Bridgeport deserves better than career politicians who take advantage of our diverse communities when it is time for them to get elected.

“Our great city is facing serious problems, and we need serious people to solve them. Now that the days of racing to open phony and unlawful police substations are behind us, let’s roll up our sleeves and start talking about what really matters here; the problems and issues folks face all across our city.

“I hear from residents all over the East Side about the lack of jobs and opportunities, unfit living conditions, and violence that plagues them on nearly a daily basis. Under the Finch administration that may be the status quo, but under a Foster administration, that all comes to an end.

“I’m running for mayor because we are haunted by our past and plagued by the present. I’m running for mayor because Bridgeport deserves better.”

    1. Knowlton Fish Market has the best lobster rolls and the gorgeous Knowlton Park is great as it glows in the dark and so many people seem to be enjoying their jet skis.

My question is, how will Foster improve deplorable living conditions? Isn’t one of the cornerstones of the Finch administration affordable housing? I would love for an elaboration on improving living conditions.

  1. Will her campaign HQ also have a police substation? Not that it matters. Ganim’s police substation did not seem to do anything to lower violent crime in the city. It seems to have made it worse as there have been more shootings after it opened than there were before it opened.

  2. BOE SPY–a friend of mine owns a property in close proximity to the Ganim substation and tells me the place has no activity going on. He also told me the people in the surrounding area feel it was just a campaign ploy by Ganim to win the favor of the people who live in Trumbull Gardens when emotions were running high.

  3. That’s about as far on the outskirts of the East Side you can get without falling in the river. If she wanted to truly be in the inner city with the people, why didn’t she use Gomes’ old place on East Main St.?

  4. I was from one end of Knowlton Street to the other. I didn’t know the address. Knowlton Park was crowded and I didn’t see the headquarters. I was on my way to lower East Main Street Finch Headquarters.
