Foster Launches Cable Ad, ‘We Can’t Go Backwards’

In a direct appeal into the camera, petitioning candidate for mayor Mary-Jane Foster makes a final-week video pitch for votes, claiming “the corruption of the past stole money from our schools, raised our taxes and had investors leave the city.”

The Foster campaign called the spot the “first phase of its media buy.” Foster does not mention Joe Ganim by name, but the contrast implication is clear. The Foster campaign is trying to reach a broader general election audience with this message. Ganim successfully reached a broader Democratic universe in the September primary in defeating incumbent Bill Finch. Rallying unaffiliated voters to the polls is key in Foster’s effort to defeat Democratic nominee Ganim.

    1. How much time has she spent white gloved and dilly-dallying instead of talking to voters of color? It’s going to show Nov. 3rd. Even the time spent at Stafstrom’s whiteshoed fundraisers could have been better spent old-school campaigning.

      1. She could have stopped by Joe Ganim’s $500 a plate birthday party and smoked cigars with all Joe’s “black” supporters, but she didn’t. Hey Balls, did you enjoy a $500 cigar? It was almost mocking as expensive wine and cigars were just a small part of the Ganim/Bridgeport romance! It is hysterical the way an Easton, wealthy, born with a golden spoon in his mouth and oversized balls, is treated like the peeps of his people and MJF, an honest candidate, is ridiculed by anonymous assholes!

          1. Well when Tyisha Toms and John Marshall Lee are elected to the council and your candidate is back flipping burgers at Harborview, he will be remembered as being part of the party that attempted to put Ganim in office to give the city a black eye and make Ganim the poster child for corruption. Is that shameful enough, asshole?

          2. If Ganim wins it will be Mary-Jane Foster’s fault. Her ego is preventing her from seeing that. She should do the right thing by dropping out.

Politics in Bridgeport goes beyond party affiliation. The GOP is underrepresented because of a lack of strong visionary leadership. Rick Torres possesses a strong vision and clear leadership skills, in spades. Ganim’s strongest skill set is lying and stealing. Foster’s skill set is a study in the art and science of self-compromise.

  1. The commercial was simple and to the point. Not crazy about the unidentifiable background. Maybe scenes from the top floor of 10 Middle St. Downtown development, bijou square, Steelpointe, Seaside Park. Did someone intentionally pick this? Did someone say, hey quick let’s make a commercial, we have five minutes to create a one-minute spot! Her presentation seems sincere. How about these are the projects we will move forward, the new High School, identify the new projects for Steelpointe, the new housing Downtown. I am sure there is a more evolved commercial behind this. I am glad nobody heard Ganim’s WICC commercial every five minutes. They might get ideas. Overall, simple, sincere and to the point. Certainly will not win any awards for creativity or location. WTF. 🙂 Certainly this was not the best we could do. We can do better, we must do better! (That is from Ganim’s commercial, I have heard it so many times, I can do it in Ganim’s voice.)

  2. This is an incredibly poorly produced and vapidly scripted 30-second piece. With all that money she’s spent so much time fundraising for, she couldn’t hire a videographer to do a 30-second spot?

    1. John, you stole my point. We do need Foster to take some Ganim votes. Please, let’s take a few minutes and … oh never mind. Too poor to even make fun of. This is not good. Come on Foster, if you completely fall apart what will your voters do? Stay home? Better get on the Torres train, or we are in for a Ganim mayoralty for sure. Torres. So Bridgeport will not be laughed at.
