From Dan Tepfer, CT Post:
The racist letter typed on city letterhead and distributed through the Police Department is another knock for a department rocked by the recent conviction of two of its veteran officers for an incident of police brutality known locally as the Beardsley Park Stomp.
But it also comes at a time when the city is actively trying to recruit minorities to the Police Department.
Veteran police officers were walking around the department shaking their heads Thursday, one day after a press conference by the Bridgeport Guardians, an organization of minority city police officers and representatives of the National Association of Black Law Enforcement Officers, demanded action be taken against whoever sent the letter.
Full story here.
Deeply troubling. I hope the letter-writer will be discovered and his/her abominable action will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law–at both the state and federal level.
I hope the state police look at every group within the PD. There have been leadership problems within the Guardians. Here is a previous post from Donald Day, “The Guardians as well as the NAACP have changed to organizations whose leadership is busy fighting among themselves while trying to curry favor with the white leadership of the Mayor’s office.”
A DAY IN THE LIFE OF MAYOR FINCH
Mrs. F: Honey, please come to bed, every time something happens in this city you wait ’til midnight to have a shit hemorrhage! You can’t do anything about it until tomorrow anyway, you’re going to wake the kids.
M F: I know, I know! I just can’t sleep like I used to, this letter that was put in everyones locker at PD pissed me off. Really pissed me off!
It’s my re-election year, and I’ve got Joe Ganim on my ass, then last night we try to get Keeley to say he wouldn’t run for Mayor at the Black Rock debate. But oh no! That crazy flucking mick tells everyone in the room he’s a City Planner, 12 Flucking TIMES! “Did I tell you I’m also a City Planner?”! No Bob, who would have guessed? And if Steve Stafstrom says “First and foremost” one more time, we’ll send his YUPPY ass back to Fairfield!
Next, The Guardians will accuse me of writing that Flucking letter!
I’m trying to kiss every black ass I can find for the next 10 months, even Rev Al’s! On NATIONAL TELEVISION!!!
I’ve been in every black church from the South End to the East Side for the past year, it’s gotten so bad I forgot what denomination I really am! I think I’ve been baptized five times this year alone, my gray suit has shrunk three sizes already!
If I never see a chicken with collard greens, sweet potatoes and corn beard again, I’ll die a happy man! After November I think I’ll eat at McDonald’s for a month! Shit! I think I put on two pounds!
So now what I do, start kissing some Guardians’ ass all over again? Honey? Honey???
Mrs. F: ZZZzzzZZZzzz ZZZzzzZZZzzz ZZZzzzZZZzzz.
Andy, I did indeed say “The Guardians as well as the NAACP have changed to organizations whose leadership is busy fighting among themselves while trying to curry favor with the white leadership of the Mayor’s office.” My question to you is what does that have to do with this story?
What it says is everyone including members of the guardians need to be looked at.
I beg to differ, it doesn’t say that at all. It merely says that had they had a quality leader then the very first time this happened it should have been addressed in the same manner it’s being addressed now. There is no way in hell this is the third time this has happened and no one has had a problem with this kind of behavior.
Don’t try to use my words to further your convoluted agenda.
I have no agenda and you said what you said, “Here is a previous post from Donald Day “The Guardians as well as the NAACP have changed to organizations whose leadership is busy fighting among themselves while trying to curry favor with the white leadership of the Mayor’s office.” You are saying the same thing here you are saying in the post above this one. Stop beating around the bush.
Andy, let me say this so there is no ambiguity, whoever wrote this, irrespective of their ethnicity, should be fired immediately. No exceptions. This letter is an affront to all that is decent and moral for all people.
I agree 100%.
Who ever wrote the letter regardless of race or ethnicity should be fired.
