A fire Wednesday morning caused heavy damage to a house on Lake Avenue in Black Rock, according to city spokesman Bill Kaempffer.
Firefighters encountered a large volume when they arrived at 310 Lake Avenue. Firefighters on Engine 7 reported an 8-10 foot column of fire coming through the roof.
“Considering the volume of fire, the guys did a heck of a job stopping the fire,” said Battalion Chief Ivan Fossesigurani.
Six engine companies and three ladder trucks responded. No one was home at the time of the fire and there were no reported injuries.
