“This is the first dramatic play presented at The Klein in recent memory, and we are honored to welcome an actress of the caliber of Loretta Swit to restore the tradition,” stated Laurence Caso, the Klein’s executive director. “Just as Eleanor Roosevelt was a groundbreaking influence, particularly for women, so is Loretta Swit. The role she played on M*A*S*H was distinctive, because she was one of the first recurring female characters on television that wasn’t a housewife or ditzy neighbor. Maj. Houlihan was a professional military nurse who also didn’t wear glamorous clothes, and Loretta artfully instilled dignity, humanity and humor into her character. We can’t wait to see how she displays those gifts as Eleanor.

Fun Fact: Eleanor Roosevelt appeared at The Klein in October of 1953, marking this the only theater Loretta Swit has performed in that actually had Mrs. Roosevelt as a guest.
