Dude, Fabs Hasn’t Been Mayor For Nearly Seven Years–Wants To Buy City Hall

Fabs letter

He hasn’t been mayor since November of 2007, but that’s not stopping some merger and acquisitions hound from trying to buy City Hall from John Fabrizi. Yes indeed, someone claiming to be a Peter Winslow sent a letter to the Mayor’s Office sounding like he’s got an offer the city cannot refuse, two buyers who want to negotiate the purchase of City Hall.

Hey, the city has two City Halls, 45 Lyon Terrace and The Margaret Morton Government Center, 999 Broad Street, which houses the executive offices including the mayor. When you call the number on the letter someone answers “Merger and Acquisitions Department.” The guy hung up before we could explain Fabs was not the mayor.

Hmmm, wonder what they’d offer?

  1. Can’t sell the Margaret Morton Center. They haven’t amortized the new sign on the building yet. And all the bad jokes about a City Hall in a department store have not been exhausted yet either.

Besides, everyone is waiting for the Twitter pictures of people at the gym that may or may not exist.

Any offers for McLevy Hall sent to Mayor Jasper McLevy?

  2. My question is who opened up the letter addressed to Fabrizi? He may no longer be Mayor but isn’t he still referred to as Mayor? Is it legal for anyone other than Fabrizi to open? Just curious.

    1. We should post an ad in the Onion. “The City of Bridgeport has City Hall complete with Mayor and Chief of Staff that needs a new home. We are taking bids, and will need at least three nonconflicted bids. Starting price point is 50 cents. No relatives or friends of the Mayor or Chief of Staff will be considered in this fair and equitable RFP process.”

  3. Sorry guys, it’s a known scam that’s been around for some time. The letter usually arrives as a fax, several times a week. That return number is associated with a lot of different names and companies. After they string you along and get you excited, they’ll ask for a retainer or other upfront fee probably via Western Union to put the deal together. Once they’ve got your money, they disappear with it.
