He’s among the longest-serving elected officials in city history, enjoying more time in office – with strong voter approval – than even his elder brother Joe and now Paul Ganim has announced he’s seeking another four-year term as judge of probate, facing a quizzical potential August primary from opportunistic non-resident attorney Mark Bradley, a registered Republican in Massachusetts who has also voted illegally in Bridgeport as a Democrat.
You cannot be registered in two places at the same time and vote in both places. YES, another OIB moment.
Paul Ganim announced this on his campaign Facebook page:
I’m proud to announce my campaign for re-election as Judge of Probate for the City of Bridgeport!
Serving the Bridgeport community has been one of the greatest honors of my career. For over 25 years, I have worked to ensure that constituents of the City of Bridgeport are treated with fairness, compassion, and respect – especially during some of the most difficulty moments of their lives.
I’m running for re-election to continue that work – making the probate process more accessible, efficient and centered around families and community.
While voting in Bridgeport multiple times over the past eight years, the start of which was on behalf of his brother, former State Senator Dennis Bradley, Mark Bradley also did not register a motor vehicle in Bridgeport until it coincided recently with his formal candidacy for judge of probate, avoiding car taxes paid to the city.

Also, recently Tom Gecewicz, the city’s former health director and current member of the Bridgeport Democratic Town Committee who was raised in Massachusetts filed an election complaint with the State Elections Enforcement Commission highlighting Bradley’s illegal voting record in both states.
Mark Bradley is also in the throes of a probate battle in Massachusetts (imagine that, he wants to be a probate judge) accused of child-payment arrears, falsifying financial statements to camouflage earnings, his own lawyer withdrawing from the case because he made “material misrepresentations” and a Massachusetts judge placing into question the future of his law license and referral to the state body that investigates complaints against lawyers in Massachusetts.
The core role of probate judge includes executing wills and estates, distribution of assets to heirs, appointment of guardians for minors and appointing conservators for adults who cannot manage their own finances or personal care.
At last week’s fundraiser Mark Bradley promised that Paul Ganim will be “packing his bags.” Supporter Tony Barr, his in-law, announced Joe Ganim “will be next.”
Hmm, Dennis Bradley, awaiting sentencing, could be packing his bags. As for Mark Bradley, his conduct adds brother-to-brother baggage.
