Democracy For America Chapter Endorses Foster

The Fairfield County chapter of the grassroots political action committee Democracy for America has endorsed Mary-Jane Foster for mayor. From Doug Sutherland, chapter chairman:

“DFA-Fairfield County is proud to endorse Mary-Jane Foster for Mayor of Bridgeport not only because of the importance of this election and its potential impact on Bridgeport but also the ripple effect a Ganim win could have on Fairfield County and the State of Connecticut as a whole,” declared Sutherland.

DFA is deeply concerned that a Joe Ganim win in Bridgeport could have a crippling effect on businesses willing to invest in the City and in the State. DFA-Fairfield County is committed to recruiting grassroots members and allied organizations to join the growing coalition rallying behind Foster.

“From the beginning, Democracy for America has been committed to electing fiscally responsible and socially progressive candidates at all levels of government–people with the honesty and integrity to bring good governance to the positions they seek. We feel Mary-Jane Foster’s years of dedicated service to the city of Bridgeport in many different capacities demonstrates that she fits this bill,” Sutherland said.

“The price of Ganim’s previous corruption is still being paid by the residents of the City and the greater Bridgeport region. Returning him to the very office from which he was convicted of 16 counts of racketeering, extortion, and bribery would send the wrong message to those who wish to move the state’s largest city forward. Neither Bridgeport nor Fairfield County nor the State of Connecticut can afford another four years of Joe Ganim,” Sutherland continued. “The citizens of Bridgeport deserve a fresh, independent voice to lead them into the future and we are confident that Mary-Jane Foster will provide just that!”

  1. Okay, so I get the endorsement and I like the endorsement. Who are they? Why am I only reading about them on this blog? Why am I the only one acknowledging them on this blog? Is this news?

  2. Will one of Tax Bill’s biggest supporters Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson be recruited to help out MJF? If I recall the Mayor touted his support and featured that endorsement.

  3. Uhh, uhh, uhh. What in hell does Kevin Johnson’s punk ass have to do with Mary-Jane? Maybe he’ll come out in support of Joe like the fire department who also supported Finch. Just saying.

  4. So a Vermont-based organization endorses MJF, seems a far distance to travel, and even her hardest worker Steven had to look them up to see who they are. Where oh where is that Finch base he brought to Foster? Yeah, Torres only has the old guard, John McKinney and Christopher Shays endorsing and working for him on the Republican side. At least they stayed true to their belief in their candidate, no jumping ship to the perceived “winner’s” side.

    1. He is a great man, did much for Bridgeport while in office. He and Betsi moved to Maryland a few years ago, but is often in town to support the good candidates he believes will best help CT.

    2. To be clear, they moved not after the Himes election, but a couple of years after his Senate Run. He lost that primary to McMahon, who was defeated by Murphy.
