Debicella Ad Scrubs A Messy Washington

Republican candidate for Congress Dan Debicella who was raised in Bridgeport has launched the first television ad of his campaign claiming things in Washington are “messy” and his Democratic opponent Jim Himes is part of the problem.

“The election will come down to whether people are happy with the Washington culture Jim Himes has embraced–partisanship and special-interest deals; or whether they want a truly independent voice in Dan Debicella who will put our country ahead of his political party,” says Debicella’s campaign manager John Puskar.

  1. Jim Himes is a corrupt, racist Greenwichite, as shown by his opposition to the three remaning Indian tribes, but Debicella is a wannabe who lost last time and will lose this time. This is the Republicans’ fault! They nominate people who have no business in politics just because they can’t support themselves in the outside world. A loser then and now.

    1. Chaz—Which one of our Democratic choices is different? What ‘outside’ job did Finch, Malloy or Himes have?
In 1995, Himes began working at Goldman Sachs as a banker in Latin America and New York. He was eventually promoted to vice president. In 2003, Himes began working for the non-profit Enterprise Foundation (currently Enterprise Community Partners), and later began running their metropolitan New York operations. In 2007, he was named vice president of Enterprise. Net worth $5,967,025.
Debicella worked as a consultant at McKinsey & Co., Director of Strategy at PepsiCo, and as Assistant Vice President of Marketing at The Hartford. He continues to currently serves on the board of various community organizations.
Both guys seem to do OK on the outside.
Malloy (D) opposes the tribe recognition. Remember, if a tribe is recognized any land awarded to them becomes a sovereign nation. If any part of BPT were found to be ‘tribal lands,’ that land and the houses/businesses on it would become another country. This would put ownership of those houses/businesses up to rulings of the tribal council as well as compensation for such. CT established and maintained reservations. That is the only reason these groups even come close to the recognition standard. I guess no good deed goes unpunished.

      1. History lesson: These tribes were here long before the whites put them on reservations. The three tribes have all said they do not want the land! You are correct, surprise, it is about the economics. The payoff for those who are opposed would stop. This just proves Human and Civil rights have a price tag in Connecticut. Oh yes, I guess serving on Boards does qualify you for politics. A yes-man there is a yes-man anywhere!

        1. A more complete history lesson. Another group was here long before the Asian-Indians crossed the land bridge from Asia and displaced them. Europeans came and displaced the Amerasian Indians.
If it is not about the economics, how about turning down the federal aid to recognized Indian tribes? Or is it OK when it is about your economics? Talk about not being able to make it on the outside world.
You have commented before that recognizing the tribe would bring a casino to BPT. If the tribe does not get land in BPT, how and where is the tribe going to build a casino? The other CT casinos are on tribal land. The only reason they pay CT anything is because CT threatened to open their own gaming and close the roads to the casinos. BTW, those casinos are going broke. Competition from NY and MA are choking them to death. The feasibility of casinos is not what it once was.

          1. News flash: There was also a land bridge between Northern Europe and North America. Don’t you think a bargain has already been struck between the Park City and the tribes? The city will benefit directly and the people will also benefit with entry-level jobs that will provide jobs for the community. No, not minimum-wage jobs but liveable jobs. The State of CT never did nor could legalize casino gaming. They won’t even have keno because the Pequots and Mohegans say no.

Doesn’t it bother you the recognition of the Pequots was done through congress and not the BIA and the Mohegans disbanded as a tribe in 1863? This is unequal treatment for three tribes. Violation of the 14th amendment, DUE and Equal Process!

  2. Charlie, without term limits, all of these politicians Democrat and Republican can’t make the money government pays them on the outside. The rich politicians need their egos massaged so they stay in politics. Bottom line, they all suck.

  3. Seriously??? A little elbow grease and some soap is all it takes?
The $$$ is failing as a “reserve currency,” the Feds continue to provide changed and inaccurate data on the economy, jobs, etc., and markets are manipulated through vast infusions of cash printed that will ultimately come home to roost with citizens as those same dollars will purchase lesser value of goods and services.

Dan has had two years to thoughtfully prepare for this year’s election. And this is the best he has. He is hurting himself more than Himes. Time will tell.

  4. “The first in his family to go to college,” is dated and who the hell is that supposed to resonate with? These days you need a college degree just to get a minimum-wage job. I do not think Jim Himes has anything to worry about and I think calling Himes a racist is untrue. It seems the only candidates the Republican party has to put forth worth listening to are Tim Herbst and David Walker. If had to bet on any Republican making it to the finish line, I’d put my money on Herbst. The reason the Republicans are having a problem is simple. The are a shrinking party and the pickings are slim. In their bubble they actually believe they are the party of morals and faith. They pretty much alienate most of the population based on race, religion, gender and orientation. They are a party that wants smaller government but wants to be in your bedroom and up a woman’s vagina. I’m just sayin’ :-). The good news is they are so out of touch that when given the issues to change they continue to add ridiculous crap to their platform. Looks like many more years of Democrat rule, local and national. 🙂

  5. Steve,
You mean you really believe in party platforms? How about Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny and $600 tax credits? And if platforms are so important (and I think they could be, and probably should be just as focusing on priorities in private businesses is important), will you take a look at the several years of Mayoral “platforms” (and I am not referring to shoes Bill may wear), and tell us about priorities, like “water taxis” and “crosswalk flags?” Can you make sense of the big-picture statements as well as claims of accountability, openness in governance and transparency? Steve, can you show me where the City website discloses the existence of the School Building Committee that has BOE members, City Council members, Mayoral appointments and its own rules that are different from City Council “bluebook” rules and permit questions from the public. Meeting schedule, agendas, minutes and monthly reports on all projects?? Where, Steve? Hundreds of millions of State and local money? Time will tell.

    1. No JML, I really do not follow the platforms. When a party continues to add garbage to their platform, I actually see it as a divine intervention. I mean really, ask Rick Perry and the Texas Republican party platform, Reparation Therapy for gays? Really, do they really enjoy drowning in their own ignorance? It would appear they do as they accept this in the 21st century and that is why the Party is heading toward extinction.
