Coviello’s Campaign Chops

Democratic mayoral candidate Charlie Coviello says he’s gearing up his campaign. Charlie’s coming off an interesting week that included a meet and greet with voters and being tossed from a Board of Education meeting for speaking too long and loud. Sporting new choppers, Charlie says he’s ready to sink his teeth into issues. His campaign handler Barry “Spanky” Piesner, files this report:

Charlie has identified over 300 people, from teenagers to seniors who will providing the grass-roots assistance needed to reach the voters who want solutions for Bridgeport’s problems.

Charlie’s key agenda points are:

A solution for bringing new businesses to Bridgeport and real jobs

A solution to the education problems

A solution for our massive foreclosure problem and displacing thousands of residents

A solution for our high energy costs for commercial properties

A solution to our tax problems, long term

Most of the projects we are proposing are actually being developed by my firm, Urban Waste Energy Consortium. The Conference being held on Tuesday, April 19th at the Burroughs Community Center at 2 PM will be the first official introduction to the Bridgeport business community about the technology we are bringing to overcome 50 years of neglected infrastructure in Bridgeport.

Coviello said in his discussion with the people at the Meet & Greet, “The big businesses will not come to Bridgeport because of its continuous decline. Why would they invest in a dying market when they can go to a growth area? Our per capita income has decreased $10,000 in the last 10 years and is still going down.

“When we elect leadership that brings in friends and relatives when they should reach out to experienced and capable people, it is obvious why nothing is happening here.”

With Coviello as our Mayor, he will change the key personnel in the Mayor’s office to those who are open to innovation and state of the art development for our city. White papers on all of the solutions will be published over the next few months outlining specifically what Coviello intends to to do as Mayor.

  1. It is a pity Coviello has stuck his beak into the mayoral race. He has nothing to offer. He never has had anything to offer and he never will. This is not a time for individual flights of fancy. These are serious times for serious people.

Never before, in the past 40 or so years, have we had this great an opportunity to dislodge the deleterious effects of the dictatorial and narcissistic control of this city by a nefarious few who are totally responsible for the demise our city has endured and is enduring.

A buffoon like Coviello cannot possibly pretend to possess the wisdom, experience and intellectual capacity to formulate a solution and guide its successful implementation. He will undoubtedly gain a few votes; votes that may be important to offset the core of DTC loyalists.

I’m worried. MJ could lose. She still has to draw votes in sufficient quantity to overcome the DTC crew and whatever Gomes can muster should he ever decide to make himself visible.

My suggestion? Mr. Gomes should cut a deal with MJ right now pledging his support. MJ should then unequivocally announce that when she is elected, Gomes will be appointed as her Chief of Staff with special executive leadership responsibility over a newly constituted CitiStat-like program. I could sleep better with that deal in place.

    1. yahooy,
First off, once again I am impressed with your eloquence. You raised many valid points. One or both of the major contenders should seek the DTC’s endorsement. If they could open a rift in the DTC, Bill Finch’s fate would be hanging in the wind. At some point the candidates will need to discuss their political futures. Multiple candidates always draw votes that are needed to defeat an incumbent. Every four years we have an opportunity to change our future. Every vote counts & we must not squander them.

      1. It would appear Bill Finch’s political future is already twisting in the wind. The Democratic field isn’t all that cluttered. Coviello is not a contender and never has been. He’s really a comedy act, the Professor Erwin Corey of Bridgeport politics. Mario Testa is on the front page of the Connecticut Post, bragging about how much clout he has, bragging about department heads calling him for permission to fire city employees. What kind of shit is that?

Gomes and Foster present a formidable challenge to the status quo. I’m with yahooy on a united front, Foster as mayor and Gomes as chief of staff with oversight of CitiStat. That way it wouldn’t be necessary to call Don Cortezone up there on Madison Avenue for his “blessing.”

  2. Charlie Coviello, eh, his heart’s in the right place. He doesn’t have the leadership skills to organize a block watch, let alone run a city of 150,000.

  3. We are making live television available for all mayoral candidates and issues at hand. Coviello was on last week. Meanwhile tomorrow’s TV show is about saving Soundview public access TV. There is a law on the table in Hartford that puts the station at risk of shutting down. Great. Just when we need different points of view in our time of crisis, they want to take it away.

    1. Why bother with Gomes? Carolanne Curry seems to do the talking for him.

It’s interesting to note Good Time Charlie’s “handler” claims his man has a solution for everything troubling the Park City. The only item not on the list of solutions is removing the oil stains from the garage floor. How about that, Spanky: Should we use Oxyclean or is crankcase oil covered by the new technologies your company is developing?
