  1. Is this the same McBride who works as an electrician for the city and is or was on the civil service board? Makes you wonder what is in the plans for this fine gentleman should Finch win.

    1. Phantom, you are correct. Willie is a retired City electrician and was a key Finch vote on the Civil Service Commission. A Trumbull resident.

  2. That’s progressive green planning at its finest–bringing the worst of suburban sprawl to the urban waterfront. Even Steve Auerbach admitted it looks like the Dock Shopping Center.

    1. WhiteRoller, let’s be clear, Steven Auerbach never said it looks like the Dock Shopping Center. I did not want Steelpointe to look like the Dock Shopping center and apparently it will not.

This is a very positive commercial for the city of Bridgeport. Mayor Finch is not part of this commercial. I do not know Willie McBride but apparently he is proud of Bridgeport and Steelpointe.
I look forward to the announcement of a Hotel and residential. The luxury movie theater and restaurant would definitely make Steelpoint in Bridgeport a more desirable destination than the Dock in Stratford.

While walking for seven hours in the North End of Bridgeport, one thing is extremely clear. Voters are excited about Steelpointe and see Mayor Finch as the clear choice. Enthusiasm is contagious. Although it is totally wasted on this blog, it resonates with the voters.
This commercial is great and I am sure everybody watching cable has seen the Bass Pro ads. At least during the Fox News debates it was shown numerous times.

        1. WhiteRoller, any time. You know my name and my number are listed. I’d give you the same information I tell every voter I speak with. There is no mystery.

  3. Well you will not believe this, my friend who repairs construction equipment was called to the site of the old Derektor ship building. He knows the construction guys and asked what they were getting ready to build at this site. The workers told him Walmart. How long will this be a secret with Finch & Company?

      1. A huge chunk of Stratford’s Walmart customers are from that area in Bridgeport. They wouldn’t rob Peter to pay Paul. Unless someone wants to spread a false rumor to enhance Finch’s image prior to the election.

      1. I have to agree with Andy. When you can’t get anyone to agree with you, Steven, you resort to name-calling, baiting and other lowball efforts to antagonize and annoy. We all ought to try to be a little more civil on this blog. It is being read by many others, not just Bridgeport yahoos.

        1. Derek, you are kidding, right? I have every post of yours and when it comes to name-calling Derek, you totally take the cake. Now if you do not like my posts or want my responses it would behoove you to stop injecting my name into your comments. Bridgeport Kid, admit it! You love my comments. You live to respond. You do not like people who regurgitate bullshit incessantly. I make your blood boil and you feel alive and relevant. Maybe I’m just imagining this. 🙂

          1. I think you’re full of shit, Steve. You’re also a racist pig who supports a racist status quo. You’ve accused me of kissing Joe Ganim’s ass. I would venture a guess you have been sucking a different part of Bill Finch’s anatomy.

          2. Bridgeport Kid Derek, I d like you to say that to.my face and you will regret the day you were born, you idiot! Racist? Hmmm.
How dare you imagine I’d let you get away with that? I will not and you will live to regret that comment. When all else fails, call the opposition a racist. I would like to bring to the attention of the other bloggers the visual of Derek Brown’s comment the guitarist from Black Rock. It was pretty sad, no? I will refrain from the tit for tat. Kid, do yourself a favor and do not respond to my posts. Certainly you know you will not stifle me and more importantly, you motivate me, I thank you for that! I would imagine the Finch administration would like to thank you also. I could be wrong, but I am not! 🙂 Little Derek Brown of Black Rock. Shame on you! You sir, are the poster child for a woman’s right to choose!

          3. I’ll say it to your face, Steven. As many times as necessary to get the point across. You are full of shit, a racist pig who only posts here to annoy other people. You will be stifled. I know how to play hardball much better than you know.

Now do us all a favor: shut your cake hole and crawl back under your rock.

          4. By the way Stevie,
I am n Black Rock most days. Feel free to come visit. I’d love to call you a racist pig to your face, love to call you out for servicing Bill Finch’s anatomical shortcomings. I’d love to see what a weak-brained, self-important little wimp like you would do.

    1. I know everybody seems opposed to a Walmart on either East End Development site BUT are you aware Walmart has standalone supermarkets? See excerpt–wouldn’t a store like this address the void in the community but also have wider appeal to all City and surrounding residents?

Walmart Neighborhood Market is a chain of grocery stores launched by Walmart in 1998. These stores are designed to be the opposite of vastly larger superstores. These smaller stores are meant to “woo shoppers with easier parking, less crowded aisles and quicker checkout.” Walmart Neighborhood Market stores offer a variety of products including a full line of groceries.

      1. 50% of Walmart employees receive public assistance because Walmart treats their employees poorly. The vast majority of their employees make minimum wage, are purposely part-time so they do not qualify for benefits.

The top four Walmart family members earn more than 6 million of the most impoverished U.S. residents combined.

They are major funders of the most conservative Republican candidates and are significant funders of any organization that promotes charter schools.

If we want a great retailer that respects their employees, a Costco should be pursued. They pay their cashiers $15 an hour and offer great benefits to their employees.

  4. That’s nice that Mr. McBride is getting his piece of the pie, but Mr. McBride didn’t mention how many other black contractors have contracts and how many women have contracts on this project that is bringing 1000’s of jobs to Bridgeport. I wonder what percentage of these jobs are going to Bridgeport residents.

  5. Well I am sure it is very realistic and common a female trades person would wear her long hair free-flowing while working on a construction site in 85-90 degree weather. Let’s not forget the delicate stud earrings.

This is clearly an attempt to use a pretty feminine black woman to perpetuate pure propaganda.

All three of the trades people featured in this ad are black. I guess either Finch is frightened about what the black community is about to do to him, or their are no Hispanics, whites, Asians, etc. working at Stealpointe.

    1. Why does it bother you Maria that there are three black stars and an attractive black woman? Are you insinuating this ad is supposed to appeal to black voters and discounting other minorities? Look, this is a commercial. The point of this is to market Bridgeport. This ad wasn’t made to give Willie McBride celebrity status. This commercial was made to show Steelpointe, simply because everybody is talking about it, and also pride as well as minority businesses that are part of the Steelpointe dynamic. This commercial is supposed to appeal to outsiders and developers celebrating Bridgeport’s future. This commercial definitely celebrates the best of Bridgeport which obviously includes the black community.

    1. Who cares, big fucking deal. You know Steven, everyone else here has you figured out. You’re just an asshole who’s only joy in life comes from annoying others.

Better call mom, your diaper needs a-changing.

      2. Derek, Bridgeport Kid, I appreciate your unnecessary, disrespectful response to my post. I will put this with the other 2000 insults. I know those who read the blog but do not post can decide for themselves who is best for the city. Derek, I am hopeful you are out there knocking on doors. I am sure voters would view you as a breath of fresh air.

  6. Steve, I have to give you credit. It appears about 75% of the comments on Lennie’s blog is you or someone replying to you. Are you working on commission?

The ‘Bridgeport Getting Better’ website and commercials are pure propaganda created by the ministry of public enlightenment and paid for by taxpayers. If Finch’s name or image appears in them it would violate guidelines of the State Elections Enforcement Commission. I checked. The obvious intent is to make people feel good about the current administration.

Has anyone noticed the ongoing and announced development on Commerce Drive in Fairfield? It surpasses Steelpoint. No tax incentives or special taxing district. No waiting for 20 years for bonds to be paid before the Town of Fairfield collects taxes.

  7. Looks like a suburban strip mall. Where are all the well-paid Bridgeport laborers in this propaganda piece?

Poorly staged. Poorly performed. Not even good propaganda.

Reminds me of any of the strip malls in Fairfield or Westport. Certainly doesn’t look like anything that would draw people with money–especially from out of town.

And again; where are all the well-paid Bridgeport laborers in this piece?
