Boo! Political Mights Cause Frights–Details On Barack Visit

Barack mask
Barack's Halloween mask isn't so frightening. The real deal arrives Saturday at the Arena at Harbor Yard.

Here’s a scary thought for Halloween Barack and Bill Clinton campaigning for Congressman Jim Himes back-to-back days in Fairfield County starting with Barack’s visit to the Arena at Harbor Yard on Saturday. The doors open at 1 p.m.; first come, first served.

The question is, scary to which political party? If you’re a supporter of Republican candidates do you worry this will juice a Democratic turnout, and perhaps some unaffiliated voters? Or is your spin this will only galvanize the opposition? I see the Barack/Clinton events nothing but plus side for Dems. Cranky Fairfield County voters, upset with Barack and the economy, don’t need a presidential appearance to come out and vote. They’re already voting.

Himes needs a push, particularly in Bridgeport, to juice supporters. Barack will do that. Connecticut in general and Bridgeport specifically will be saturated by Barack news Saturday and Sunday. How much impact that will have in turnout we’ll see.

By the way, a belated happy birthday to Himes’ GOP opponent Dan Debicella. The Bridgeport native turned 36 on Sunday. Dan’s Campaign Manager Jason Perillo issued a birthday appeal to supporters to donate to Dan’s money bomb one week out. It’s Dan’s birthday send money! Both Debicella and Himes have plenty of dough to make their case.

Himes and Debicella will debate Tuesday morning from 8 to 9:30 at Housatonic Community College, Beacon Hall Events Center, Room 214, 900 Lafayette Boulevard, Bridgeport.

  1. OK Lennie am I correct in saying no tickets needed? No entrance fee or any fee to get in? What time you guys think I and friends should reach there by to possibly get in? Do you think it will be packed??? I’m pumped to see Obama, the guy who carried 84% of the vote in Bridgeport. This will be a honor to see the most powerful guy in the world; I can’t wait!

  3. Jim Himes will be a wasted vote. He’ll be part of the minority in DC. And Bpt doesn’t need any more grants or entitlement money. It needs more cops to get rid of the rampant crime which is driving business and opportunities away from Bpt. That and the high tax rate.

” Bridgeport doesn’t need any more grants or entitlement money” yet you want to get rid of the high tax rate. I beg to differ. Bridgeport needs every grant and entitlement funding that congress can send our way. Bridgeport’s tax rate is so high the city is behind the eight ball when it comes to growing its tax base. If the tax base doesn’t grow the tax rate will not come down. Bridgeport needs many more millions to help rebuild the infrastructure, clean the brownfields and dredge the harbor.

  4. I’ll repeat … Bridgeport doesn’t need any more entitlements or grant money because it’s not the lack of infrastructure that is scaring business away from this town, it’s THE CRIME RATE. IT’S THE FACT THAT ALMOST 75% OF THIS TOWN is ghetto. And yes I DO LIVE IN BRIDGEPORT, that’s how I know. Our police department needs the money. NOW!!! AND NO I’m not a cop. No decent business is going to build in Bridgeport with the “demographics” it currently has. Get It?

  5. JustMe maybe we should change demographics just like the Nazis did, is that what you think we should do so some decent business comes to town? This sounds very familiar Herr Fuehrer.
