Approved Senate Bill Strengthens Privacy Protections

From State Senator Herron Gaston Facebook page:

We passed Senate Bill 4 to strengthen privacy protections and put control of personal data back in the hands of consumers. This bill ensures that
• Data brokers must delete your personal data at no cost when requested
• Facial recognition in public spaces must be disclosed and include a way to request removal of images
• Businesses must be transparent when using algorithms for dynamic pricing
• Precise geolocation data cannot be sold or shared
• Consumers have rights to access and control their genetic testing data
• Streaming ads cannot be played louder than FCC standards
It’s simple. Your data belongs to you.

    1. If or when 5,000 OIB readers (myself included) read this commentary, each one of us will be left scratching our heads. I’d be not one of us were concerned about the alleged violations or a fix to it.

“• Data brokers must delete your personal data at no cost when requested.”
What the hell is a data broker? How would one know a DB has their personal information and who this DB is? How does one contact someone who is anonymous? I bet Senator Gaston has never had to deal with the Connecticut Department of Consummer Protection.

“• Facial recognition in public spaces must be disclosed and include a way to request removal of images.”

Why allow facial recognition in public spaces in the first place? If I request for removal of images, how could I be sure the images were removed. What if I go back to the same public space, must I again request removal of images? We should all just take a page from ICE and wear a fucking mask.

As for the rest of the bullet points, follow my logic and hopefully you’ll see the waste of time and effort here. Privacy doesn’t exist without a limit. Maybe Connecticut should establish a Department of Privacy Protection.

      1. True that, Speedy. You have no real control over your Social media, public, data. shit perhaps private too. 🙂

That shit gets bundled up, packaged up, sold, and resold up like MBS’s in the 2000s 🤣

This bill can’t even be said to be “putting lipstick on a pig”. Shit, it’s more like Chapstick, people. 🤣

However, they should make it a law that states any IA-generated content needs to have a label generated by IA.

The real question is who and how this information is used, for better or worse. That being said, I can assure you that questions can be asked to our understanding of understanding, right, John L.

Though I do feel, John T, “it wasn’t brains that got me here, I can assure you that”

  1. BTW Speedy, speaking of information. It seems the music has stopped. So it is fair to say the Keymaster is taking on the task of war. Too many innocent lives lost in this disingenuous game for power, control, and money, be it the military or the medical industrial complex.

Considering one side has an elementary built for the “disingenuous”, the other side to blow it up as a means to persecute is the press, sending those children to their death/passing.

Perhaps other reasons as well. Either way, here’s a shout-out to your digit to the cause. Make no mistake, that was bat – shit crazy, Speedy. 🤣
