Steve Obsitnik, Republican candidate for Democrat Jim Himes’ U.S. House seat in Connecticut’s 4th Congressional District, reports his campaign has raised more than $250K.

CANDIDATE FOR U.S. CONGRESS STEVE OBSITNIK RAISES MORE THAN $250,000 IN CAMPAIGN’S FIRST QUARTER

NORWALK, January 18, 2012 – Steve Obsitnik, Republican Candidate for U.S. Congress from Connecticut’s 4th District, announced today that his campaign raised more than $250,000 in the first quarter of fundraising, which ended on December 31, 2011. The Obsitnik Campaign will report this information in the Federal Election Commission filing due on January 31, 2012. Mr. Obsitnik, a Fairfield County businessman, entrepreneur and local educator, announced his candidacy in Bridgeport, CT on November 15, 2011.

“We are delighted to have such strong support across the 4th District,” said Obsitnik. “Our message of job creation, economic growth, and smaller, smarter government is clearly resonating with the voters. Republicans, Independents and Democrats alike understand that Washington is taking our country in the wrong direction by spending money we don’t have and jeopardizing our nation’s economic future. We need U.S. Representatives with real-world experience in creating jobs and managing budgets to set our nation on the right course to restore the American Dream.”

Steve Obsitnik has been a technology industry entrepreneur and small business executive for more than 15 years in both the Silicon Valley and Connecticut. Mr. Obsitnik is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering with honors. Prior to Annapolis, Mr. Obsitnik graduated from Stamford High School in 1985 where he was a captain of the varsity soccer team. He served for five years in the U.S. Navy, primarily as a Lieutenant on board the U.S.S. Ray, a nuclear attack submarine. He was awarded eight medals during several deployments, including to the Arctic Circle. After completing his naval duty, Mr. Obsitnik attended The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, earning a Master’s in Business Administration with a degree in finance. Over the past 15 years, he has worked in the technology industry as an entrepreneur and small business executive in both Silicon Valley and Connecticut. He is also an adjunct professor of entrepreneurship at the Jack Welch College of Business at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT. Mr. Obsitnik lives in Westport with his wife Suzanne and their two children who attend local public schools.
