Christopher Toole who operates an urban farm at the city’s animal shelter is marketing on his Facebook page “goats, complete with herdsman and an Australian cattle dog, to help manage your property, fertilize it and clear it of unwanted weeds, including poison ivy and other unwanted nasties! Our goats love them all!”
Mayor Bill Finch, Bridgeport’s resident Mr. Green Jeans, was instrumental in Toole launching an urban farm at the animal shelter. Hey, why wait until the last minute, you can book the goats to wipe out your weeds in the spring. You can even hire Toole as your herdsman with an Australian cattle dog. Maybe you could hire Chris to herd some of your favorite politicians out of town! Toole also showcases a video of goat Daisy in action. The urban farm, after concerns raised by the state, is doing better following the latest inspection.
From Toole:
got weeds? got an overgrown garden? got children or others to entertain? consider renting our goats, Bridgeport’s only legal herd! they love poison ivy, and will eat phragmites, kudzu and bamboo too!

“As a result of the Hearst investigation, the state has quarantined the urban farm, alleging that inspectors found sick and poorly fed chickens, goats, pigs and donkeys with injured eyes, mouth sores, broken hooves and other ailments.”–CT POST
So you want people to rent THOSE animals? Get real, what a joke. And I see he is sticking with the NY area code while operating on free land in Bridgeport. You can’t make this sh*t up.
A subsequent Hearst article stated the animals were all cleared and passed the tests.
Hey Lennie, call that number and ask if he has a snake that can catch and kill that woodpecker ruining your house.
Good point Speedy, those woodpeckers returned once my cat Stinky became a meal for those coyotes.
I pray one of the new City Council members puts an end to this nonsense. Demand the mayor submit a lease to the council for approval or require the City Attorney to present the council with a legal written opinion stating no lease is needed and no city ordinance, charter provisions or state laws are being violated.
Right now it appears the mayor has granted a commercial enterprise free use of city property.
