On Nov. 5th, city voters will decide the future makeup of the City Council and Board of Education. Will the citywide turnout hit 10 percent? You receiving mail pieces and phone calls? If you want to see candidates in action, City Council candidates in the 130th District, Democrats Sue Brannelly and Steven Stafstrom and Republicans Rick Torres and Phil Blagys, will square off in a forum on Wednesday, 7 p.m. at the Black Rock Branch Library, 2705 Fairfield Avenue. On Thursday all eight candidates from three political parties have agreed to appear at a Board of Education forum 7 p.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church at the corner of Park and Fairfield Avenues, sponsored by The League of Women Voters of the Bridgeport Area. Five school board seats are on the line. Two of the five seats are reserved for state-mandated minority party representation.

  1. No sign of pols whatsoever in the 136th. Before the primary, the Dems were practically beating down my door. Certainly hope they don’t think they have nothing to worry about; winning a primary doesn’t guarantee a win in the general election.
