Sure, can one bad day change the crime stats? Of course, but many more good days than bad, so far in 2025.

Entering the final quarter of the year, crime stats across the board have never been lower in my 50 years (ouch) covering the city.

No one has the magic wand. Many factors play into this.

When things are bad, blame this one and that one and this one and that one. Happens all the time. But, when things are good the haters will find someone to blame, it’s what they do, because they don’t like the people in charge, and they want to be in charge.

So, let’s please credit the chief, women and men of the department, the supervisors, the training academy, community outreach and the citizens of Bridgeport, because without them, it’s a much harder task for the uniformed regulars.

If you want to give the mayor and City Council credit for funding the Police Department, so be it.

If you want to declare the opposition can do a better job, so be it too.

Okay, fair enough. That’s what elections are all about.

Meanwhile, the low crime stats are historic.

    Perhaps, G2 should run for Governor again. 🤣 If his “backers” were crazy enough to back/fund him in gubernatorial race right after G2’s historic comeback, that was marred in corruption and a stint in prison.

    Why not in this next gubernatorial race, pitting him against Ned. Considering this theard, and the progress the Port has make. Seems fair. 🙂

  3. These statistics are certainly moving in a positive trend at this time. This has not always been so in Bridgeport, but the public should be open to the information provided by statistics at regular times because data can be helpful in planning and program evaluations. And at this time with understaffing still preventing more community policing, perhaps, the report is a good one. Perhaps I would look to what is happening with overtime expense trends while we positively regard the public safety professionals.

    We see violence in other places in the US. Much of the violence is being inflicted not by local police forces but by Immigration Officers who have no basic uniform, often sporting facial hair which the Defense Department Chief has spoken against, dressed in military gear, with crowd control tools and unnecessary force. These are US citizens, protesting with words and signs their dismay with how other humans are being treated, because the candidate, in summer 2024 reproved the Republican Congresspersons from a bi-partisan resolution to the “immigration problem”.

    I have enjoyed reading UNFORGIVING PLACES by Jens Ludwig, a Chicago resident and professor there. The text was published only months ago and he handles all of the many suggestions for how to deal with gun violence, using the latest data. But he also provides a sample of results regarding the info of each gun murder, isolating whether System 1 emotional responses triggered the weapon and result, or whether System 2 where a slower term evaluation of the risk/reward ratio could uncock a living result. A Good read.

John, perhaps the public should be open to the information provided by the statistics at regular times, but we know statistics are subject to one perception and manipulation, subversively to on benefit. If you/they adhered to my advice and capped policing overtime expenses, there would be no need to the happening with overtime expenses. Well, perhaps at least as to who is going to make the top Port’s municipality pay list, netting hem a million by the time Trump’s, kingship expires. Though to be fair, our school superintendent will, No? 🙂

    Based on our public turnout to elections they/public perhaps don’t care about stats availability more than the outcome.

    Sure, we see violence in other places, as well as with the enemy within trying to blow off trump head on live TV, in the summer of 2024. Kick, and that “mayonnaise” girl on the bus in 2025 come to mind too.

    Law Enforcement encounter violence on a daily basis, no? To be fair as well as the “resistance” of words and signs, protests, and condonation, some cases rightfully so, others not, but a resistance non-the-less.

    As to the dress code, I think a tight trimmed beard, 3mm in the “DOW”. I am sure Pete H don’t want his soldiers looking like pussy to be Fucked with. Right KW? 🤣

    Personally, I am trying to figure out why every president has to let their hair go gray/white. Obama would look half his age if he was allowed to dye it. Shit, Trump had to dye his ‘nature” gold yellow” hair white. 🙂

    Perhaps it’s an anti-gender/female thing as an attempt to stop females from running, becoming president, Women don’t like to let their hair go gray/white. They, women fight that with every ounce of their being. While men can come off distinguished as the get old with grays and the proper dress. Women on the other tend to just get older looking with greys, regardless of the dress, am I wrong ladies? JS

  7. If we get to the end of the year with a record similar to this, it should rank as one of the top 10 news stories of the year in Connecticut. It might rank is the number one crime story of the year in this state. (I’ll probably get trolled for saying this, but Robert seems to want to start conspiracy theories about Bridgeport crime. Statistics is wrong to suggest that there is something wrong with the crime statistics, I challenge him to list the specifics ofmore than two murders in the city this year.)
