Gander The Goldmine Under The Dome–The Influential Lineup Of Gaming Lobbyists

If you want a blood transfusion schmooze a local state lobbyist. It’ll make you flush in more ways than one. As the Hartford Courant’s Jon Lender reports, there’s serious scratch to be made in the form of expanded gaming and sports betting, many of them a roster of government lobbyists involving Bridgeport interests.

Among the entities paying lobbysts:
MGM, Mashantucket Pequot Tribe/Foxwoods Resort Casino, Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority, MMCT Venture, LLC, Caesar’s, Sportech, Shoreline Star, FanDuel and DraftKings, MLB, NBA, PGA, NFL
From Lender:

Connecticut’s considerable cadre of government-influencing operatives have landed contracts totaling nearly $2 million this year to lobby state legislators and executive branch officials about who gets to operate an expected new sports wagering program, how it would work and who wins the ongoing struggle over construction of a commercial casino on non-tribal land in East Windsor or Bridgeport.

There’s money to be made, and there are interests to protect, as legalized gambling keeps expanding its reach into every corner of Connecticut. Gamblers soon may be able to bet on their mobile phones on not only the outcome of a major league baseball game–but also, within the game, on whether the next pitch is a strike or ball, or a fastball or curve.

  1. The mobile goldmine is important, too…
    Here’s why :
A mobile app could turn every traffic light or traffic jam into a money-making opportunity for Connecticut. It’s a fast world we live in.
Connecticut cannot determine who wins the game but we can make Connecticut the best spot to place their bet!

  2. I actually went to it. Well I’m always at HCC on Saturday’s during the semester school year. It was a decent event. The food was Ok, nothing like what Moore had at her event on domestic violence, that I skipped class to see what was going on.
Nice people, one dude even gave me his packet. The way I see it. For maximum development. Make Pleasure Beach a large resort casino, minus parking. I would place the parking the on main land use water taxis to bring them to the land. This make it a destination without the Bridgeport stigma, who are coming out of state. It will be a place of its own.

For more local towns, I would like to see an outlet mall at Steel Point for a retail experience with restaurants, an I-Max theater and other entertainment venues. To serve the more local population. JS Good luck people. 🙂 BAM!
