Happy New Year OIB friends!
Intriguingly, we’re now pushing 20 years together. We’ve lost some close friends along the way and gained new ones.
When I started this I had no clue (some argue I still don’t) we’d still be among the living two decades later to provide an insider’s slant on Connecticut’s most populous city. None of this matters unless you show up.
Thank you!
I like to think of our OIB family as good company, a little dysfunctional at times but still together.
We argue, we kiss and make up, then we do it again because it’s what we do.
What’s coming up in 2025?
The General Assembly meets January 8 for a full session that runs into June? What happens there impacts local Bridgeport here in many ways: education funding, property taxes, social services, economic development.
This is also a revaluation year of taxable property, as required every five years by state law. Property owners will be advised of new assessments that will influence the tax rate. The assessments will be factored into the city budget by municipal bean counters submitted to the City Council in April.
On the political side it’s an off cycle (no election for mayor) so the main events are seats for school board and City Council. Who’s in? Who’s out? These elections also matter.
I’ll do my best to keep you informed.
Meanwhile, thank you for sharing as well.
Lennie, all the best to you and to all the OIB readers in 2025!
You too, Harvey.

They say light is the best disinfected or should I say the photoelectric effect. What say you Einstein?
Keeping OIB reader inform is solely up to you. It’s in your hands Lennie. Though, your sponsor may have a say. 🙂
As to the back in forth, well, it can be fair to say like the gravitational pull, or repulsion of a Blackhole where light don’t exist. The light of opinions in the comment section have fall edge of the flat Earth 🌎
Perhaps, like a marriage, for better or worse, where right and wrong gets convoluted based on the coded side you find yourself on and consciousness sparks the deeps of exist, reality where “bias” emotion is the weak force. Logically speaking, coupled with the overall progress the Port has seen. What say you disingenuous, Gen Now?
Though, with Trump at the helm of US political freak show, perhaps the weak force of opinions will get stronger in 2025.
Best of luck OIB, the best ESL class ever. 🙂
