For a guy who’s not a candidate for mayor, former Mayor Joe Ganim certainly is acting like he wants his old job back. Joe’s been making the rounds in recent weeks checking in with city pols, putting on the schmooze. On Monday he visited the campaign headquarters of Rev. Charlie Stallworth. On Tuesday he was spotted, among other places on the day of the special election, in front of the Hooker School voting precinct, and then with former State Senator Ernie Newton, the Moses of his peeps, greeting voters in front of Wilbur Cross School. (Moses supported Stallworth.) Oh my, it has lots of pols speculating about Joe getting into the mayoral race. Will he?
What’s Joe Gonna Do?

Never mind what will Joe do. What will Mario do if Joe enters the race?
My advice
Joe and Ernie should team up with Marion Barry and the child molester from Waterbury, Roland and Eddie Perez and write a book on what not to do while in public elected office. Stay home li’l Joe, your family deserves peace.
As DTC chairman, Mario Testa remains a fixture on the sidelines.
Joe Ganim is the movable part. He might enter the race or he might choose to sip a soft drink while relaxing in the backyard.
The only thing that would disgrace Bridgeport more than Joe Ganim’s conduct in office, his conviction and imprisonment would be his subsequent election to any public office.
Yeah, JOE and I were up at Wilbur Cross school. The REV. won 2-1 at that school. Yes WE ARE BACK! Like I said before, the people vote.
Ernie, let’s be realistic here. Had you and Joe still been serving time during this past special election, the results would have still been the same.
I agree convicted criminals should receive a second chance at life if rehabilitated. However I also feel once you disregard the people’s trust by stealing what you were put in office to protect, you should not be entrusted in office again. Yes, Ganim did some good things for the city, but we will never know how much better off the city would have been if pay to play were not a factor. For one, Steel Point would probably be up and running and generating much needed jobs and revenue.
Oh I forgot to mention I saw MJF at Wilbur Cross passing out her literature.
Hey! It’s the 10th Mouseketeer.
wasn’t that Roy?
I’m actually the ghost of Mandanici!
You call yourself Democrats?
Ganim privatized WPCA and the Garbage pickup.
You want a Wisconsin here?
I hope Joe stays in Easton.
I voted for Joe and think there was much his administration did well … Until the Financial Review Board left town and then hubris and greed slowly picked up speed … He paid a very high price and I wish him all the best in picking up the pieces of his life. (Same with Ernie Newton.)
But they should not be involved in Bridgeport politics!
It is pathetic that we (as citizens of Bridgeport) are even discussing the possibility of Joe Ganim running for mayor again.
Lennie, the question should be what the Democratic Town Committee gonna do. Getting the Democratic endorsement is almost a guarantee to get 51% of the vote.
Oh Lennie, if you don’t believe the great response Joe and I got at Wilbur Cross school, ask MJF. Lots of HUGS and KISSES!
Vote Ganim!
He lost the trust of the people of Bridgeport. Nothing is worse than betraying the people who put you in office Yes, he was recognized in all the national magazines and perhaps he had been on his way to something more … but 15 minutes of fame are fleeting and those 15 minutes have long been over. Mr. Ganim should spend time with his family, especially his children.
