The smartphone ride is also smart for business. Last week more than 160 Uber driver-partners attended a luncheon at the Holiday Inn Downtown promoting customer service classes and an update on Uber’s Urban Partnership in Bridgeport.
Officials of the Greater Bridgeport NAACP and The WorkPlace shared the positive impact that Uber has had in Bridgeport and the economic opportunity it provides.
UberUP launched in Connecticut on June 23, 2015. Since then, nearly 300 people from Bridgeport started driving with Uber, according to officials of the San Francisco-based company. In urban communities across Connecticut, more than 750 people now partner with Uber, and have made over $1.6 million in the past 4 months.
Daniel Matos, a Bridgeport resident and Uber driver-partner since March, says flexibility of Uber allowed him to be there for his family and still make a living after his son had a medical emergency.
