Today, the Bridgeport Police Department reports that a stabbing victim from a September 2015 incident is deceased, and the cause of death makes it the city’s 15th homicide this year. On Thursday, October 22, 2015 at approximately 9:30 p.m., Erick Lopez of Bridgeport, was pronounced dead from complications caused by a stab wound suffered during a September 1, 2015 incident.
Detectives are actively investigating the incident, and are urging anyone with information to contact the Bridgeport Detective Bureau at (203) 581-5201.
Background: On September 1, 2015 at approximately 10:00 p.m., police officers were flagged down on Fairfield Ave. near the corner of Howard Ave. by a person who stated there was a nearby injured man.
Upon arrival at the scene, police officers found a 32-year-old male in front of 1457 Fairfield Ave. suffering from a stab wound to the chest.
The victim was initially unresponsive, was immediately transported to St. Vincent’s Hospital.
I hear the Finch Administration has instructed residents of the East End and East Side to barricade their houses with rain barrels as a safety measure.
