Rick Torres, the 2011 Republican mayoral candidate, has endorsed congressional candidate Steve Obsitnik, one of two Republicans battling for the party nomination to challenge Democratic incumbent Jim Himes. The other is Chris Meek.
Where are the Republicans in the city? Many of them are in Black Rock, Rick’s home base where he operates the popular Harborview Market. Obsitnik built goodwill with Bridgeport Republicans by announcing his candidacy in the city a few months ago. Most of the city’s GOP political leaders tend to coalesce around the same candidate. From the Obsitnik campaign:

*** I still like C. Shays for US Senate! ***
Isn’t this a little bit like being endorsed from the SS Titanic?
