The Connecticut Post in its Sunday edition endorsed Democrat and Working Families Party candidate Andre Baker, WFP incumbent Sauda Baraka and Republican Joe Larcheveque for Board of Education. Post editorial:
It’s no exaggeration to say the election of a new Bridgeport Board of Education could have national implications.
The presence of widely known Superintendent of Schools Paul Vallas and his uncertain future put Bridgeport squarely in the middle of the national debate on education reform. The local election won’t necessarily mark a turning of the tide, but there’s no doubt it will be closely watched.

*** I like Baker, Larcheveque and Hennessey, sorry no BOE incumbents this time around; let’s keep it fresh and clean with little or no caffeine, no? *** CHANGE ***
“Like” 🙂
Hey Ralph, the same should go for ALL incumbents. It’s time to sweep the house clean.
The Post writes, “in Joe Larcheveque is a Republican candidate. He is even-tempered, reasoned and the father of children in the system. A Republican voice on this school board would be a good addition, and he has a strong grasp of the issues at stake.” Really, the standard is a Republican voice on this school board would be a good addition. Larcheveque has no background.
Looks like the Post is being politically correct. A Democrat: Baker (from the East End) A Republican: Larcheveque (from Black Rock) and A WFP: Baraka (from the North End). So the Post can always say they were fair to each of the political parties.
Ron, Andre Baker is a WFP candidate as well as a Democratic one.
