These are the days that cause so much community grief, outbursts of violence during the dog days of summer. City police are investigating two homicides in separate Sunday morning incidents, one on the West Side where police were called to a neighbor dispute with a man shot dead and another fatal shooting in the parking lot of an apartment complex at 140 Alice Street in the North End. The victim lived in the apartment.
Police report the motive is not clear and there is no connection to the incidents. They represent the 15th and 16th homicides in 2017.
Chief Perez stated, “The loss of a life and any act of violence is tragic and upsetting for all of us in the community. While these acts may leave cause for concern, the general public should not feel threatened. These are not random acts against residents, they are isolated incidents between individual subjects.”
