  1. If I recall, Marilyn Moore was the only elected official who spoke for the taxpayers on the July 5th Tax Revolt.
She told the city council and Tom McCarthy (CC President) not to turn their backs on the taxpayers of Bridgeport.

  2. It’s easy for Marilyn Moore to distance herself from Bridgeport’s tax increase and side with the taxpayers. However, McCarthy balanced Bridgeport’s budget while Moore left Connecticut with a deficit that won’t be addressed until next year.

    1. Local Eyes,
Bridgeport has not had a “balanced budget” on an accrual basis in many years! The City has a negative net worth, and a negative unrestricted net position of over $875,000,000! It also has over $1,400,000,000 in unfunded pension and retiree health care obligations. The mil rate just went up 29% and is one of the highest in the country. The truth is, Tom McCarthy has been part of the problem and now he needs to be part of the solution. We need a state-created Financial Control Board for Bridgeport ASAP. Where does Tom stand on creating such a Board?

      1. Dave Walker, without parentheses Bridgeport’s budget gets balanced every year. But any accountant would recognize the negatives here. In response to your question, I do not represent anyone beside myself.

        1. Local Eyes,
You missed my point. Neither Bridgeport nor Connecticut have had a credible “balanced budget” for many years. Both are in poor financial condition and have a negative competitive posture. Both need to restructure ASAP.

    1. Come on LE, that’s not only a blatant lie, but the biggest cop-out ever. I don’t know who you are and it wouldn’t matter to me if I did, but why do you think anyone is going to take the time to “prove you wrong?” The only thing Tom McCarthy ever balanced was his City job and his seat on the City Council.

      1. Lisa, Bridgeport has a balance budget so everything is okay so now we can vote for Tommy because some coward wrote the budget is balanced from some nobody who is scared to use their name.

    2. Tom McCarthy and Finch rolled over a $20,000,000 deficit to Joe Ganim, then claimed the budget was balanced for 2016.
Every taxpayer in Bridgeport can thank Tom McCarthy!

    1. I can’t respond to someone I don’t know. You may very well know more about Bridgeport politics than I, it would be nice to have a discussion with someone who goes back as I do, but that would require knowing to whom I’m speaking. Call me dumb, but I’m not getting your comment “It was McCarthy’s ink that completed Ganim’s budget.” Your communication skills far exceed my comprehension so please explain at my limited level.

    1. Never wanted to know anything about him, I was in the mood to respond just this time because it’s too hot to do anything else today and I was bored. Even given his name, I’ve never heard of him, other than the blog. Do you, Bubba?

  3. And not a word about more senseless violence and murder in Fort Meyers. Have we simply become too numb?
Too, too many guns. Something’s got to be done.

  4. My popularity on OIB is uneven. Some people think I’m a loser at the top of my game, while others think I’m the undisputed bad-ass of blogging.

  5. McCarthy’s new mailpiece came out. Still does not state any reasons to vote for him. It’s got testimonials by supporters, stating he has a track record of success, but no mention of what those successes are. Big mailer with no platform. Again. He would also do well to check into which council people are in his district. Otherwise, it just looks like he is adding a peppering of color to the mailers, which is likely the case.
