State Senator Marilyn Moore will join women’s rights advocates from across Connecticut to host a panel discussion on sexual assault trauma Thursday 6 p.m. in the Beacon Hall Event Room of Housatonic Community College, 900 Lafayette Boulevard. Arrival and refreshments begin at 5 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
“This is a pivotal moment for women in our country,” says Moore who represents the 22nd District covering Trumbull and portions of Bridgeport and Monroe. “Women will no longer tolerate having our voices silenced, diminished and unheard.”
Panelists will include experts from The Alliance to End Sexual Violence and Planned Parenthood of Southern New England.
The trauma of sexual assault is a community issue that permeates schools, agencies and workplaces, according to Moore. Sexual assault victim advocates and public health experts will discuss resources and explain the impact of trauma, victimization, and recovery, and how trauma affects the community at large.
I certainly appreciate the attention and time that Senator Marilyn Moore has spent on “social” issues but I wish Senator Moore would spend more time with her constituents, especially in Bridgeport, about economic issues(jobs etc). Otherwise,I am happy with Senator Moore and I am one of her constituents.
Frank, remember female voters are truly concern about this issue much more than men who don’t want to even discuss the problem. If someone is concern about your health and well being well they will be concern about your day to day concerns.
Hey Frank,
In case you were living in a cave for the past few weeks this is a hot topic. The GOP’s shameless misogyny was on display during the Kavanaugh confirmation hearings before the Senate Judiciary Committee. There are more than a few women out there that will express their collective wrath at the ballot box next month. The good old boys of the GOP are about to be drowned by a blue wave of public discontent.
I have found in politics all over the country is that those who are not happy with a clean, upstanding politician, want something that they’ve got.
