Mayor Airs Radio Spot

Mayor Bill Finch has launched his first reelection radio spot featuring testimonials from several city residents. Listen to the spot at finchformayor.com/news/. From the Finch campaign:

COMMUNITY LEADERS SUPPORT MAYOR’S RE-ELECTION

Mayor Finch’s re-election campaign is on the air with its first testimonial radio spot. Supporters, from small business owners to community leaders, have expressed why they are voting for the Mayor.

Community activist and longtime Bridgeport resident Rosa Correa says, “I have lived in Bridgeport since 1957 and today, because of Mayor Finch, Bridgeport is a more livable city. He has cut government spending and held the line on taxes. He has made the hard choices and now he is bringing Bridgeport back.”

Joe Tiago, owner of Tiago’s Restaurant in downtown Bridgeport also supports what Mayor Finch is doing for the city. “Mayor Finch is committed to our future. He has opened five new public schools and is on the verge of building its first new high school in fifty years. Mayor Finch is turning this city around.”

Another business owner in Bridgeport, Gabby Fludd of Gumdrop Swap, says that she “could have opened my store anywhere, but I brought it to Bridgeport because Mayor Finch has made it easier for small businesses like mine to create jobs. Bill Finch is more than I expected from a Mayor and thanks to him we can believe in Bridgeport again.”

East End resident Frances Christy, shares her support for the Mayor saying, “I’ve lived in Bridgeport all my life and I can tell you, Mayor Finch is reducing crime and increasing opportunities. He’s added new police precincts and hired more officers and is making a difference on our streets.”

Under Mayor Finch, Bridgeport is on the rise, block by block, brick by brick. Downtown Bridgeport is being revitalized with dozens of new businesses, the first new construction in 25 years, and nearly 1,500 residents to call it home. Economic development opportunities are emerging, access to our waterfront is increasing, and millions of dollars in federal and state dollars will bring development to the City’s East Side and East End. Under his direction, the City created the Small and Minority Business Resource Office, which has led to more than $35 million in contracts for small, local and minority-owned businesses. This office helps local businesses thrive, and keep good-paying jobs in Bridgeport. Mayor Finch has opened new police precincts and added new officers to help make the City safer and stronger.

We have new businesses, new residents and a safer and cleaner city through the hard work of Mayor Finch. Meanwhile, we have been holding down property taxes and balancing the budget for three straight years with lower spending and streamlined services.

    Drea-ea-ea-ea-eam, dream, dream, dream
When I want you in my arms
When I want you and all your charms
Whenever I want you, all I have to do is
    Drea-ea-ea-ea-eam, dream, dream, dream

When I feel blue in the night
And I need you to hold me tight
Whenever I want you, all I have to do is
    Drea-ea-ea-ea-eam

I can make you mine, taste your lips of wine
    Any time night or day
    Only trouble is, gee whiz
    I’m dreamin’ my life away

I need you so that I could die
I love you so and that is why
Whenever I want you, all I have to do is
    Drea-ea-ea-ea-eam, dream, dream, dream

    1. Bill Finch is very lucky he has such a staunch supporter in NORTH45. I respect your optimistic view of the Mayoral race and your ability to handicap the race. Are you so proud of your endorsement you would be willing to identify yourself?

  2. Reminding all of you that Thursday evening at 6:30 pm the Black Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Meet and Greet for Mary-Jane Foster at Miss Thelma’s Restaurant on Fairfield Ave. by the courthouse. This is a great opportunity to meet Mary-Jane and address any issues that are important to you. Hope to see all of you there!!! Even Finch supporters–you owe it to yourself to educate yourself–this is about the future of our city.

  3. You would have to get a more credible city leader than a Republican whose son was in charge of the BOE for the last three years without anything but a GED and left as soon as the state took over. Correa helped sink the BOE for Finch.

    1. Rosa Correa also helped sink the Civil Service process. She was put on the CS commission (one of the FEW commission spots actually filled by Finch) to orchestrate the termination of Ralph Jacobs which cost the taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars. She used to be a respected member of her PR community. Too bad she is letting herself be used by Bill Finch.

  4. This was a response from me in the CT Post as to the “for sale” signs in downtown Bridgeport. It reflects the malaise of Bridgeport since the 1950s and shows you why you need a business person like Mary-Jane Foster to run Bridgeport like a business not a personal cash cow for your friends, relatives, and leeches like Finch and his predecessors.
“This (Bridgeport’s condition) goes back to Mayor Tedesco’s administration and thievery. When 25/8 was built his family made a bundle of money buying up properties at the foot of where the highway joined I-95. He then retired to Greenwich. That’s where John Fruge wanted, in 1957, to put what is now Trumbull Shopping Park. When Tedesco refused (citing the above), Fruge built in Trumbull. From that time forward downtown has deteriorated into what you see today, an empty, unproductive, run-down shell. Ganim’s administration took over a myriad of properties by eminent domain taking those properties off the tax rolls and making Bridgeport a landlord with no income coming in. Finch’s flies and leeches have no idea what to do or how to do it. This is just a typical political ploy to get votes.
Bridgeport’s potential has been sabotaged by politicians for the past 50+ years and now it’s time to pay the piper!!!”

    1. Bob. In the last month, the area around Main and Gold had been spruced up with beautiful legal graffiti. It looks fantastic now! LOL … Keep up the great work, one-term Finch. I better behave before NORTH45 (or is it Mrs. Finch?) gets angry.

      1. It’s not Mrs. Finch. She has her own PAC and would “reimburse” someone to come on here and talk about her husband in a positive light. Judging by the lack of content in the posts I’d say Sonya hired NORTH45 for cheap. He or she is a complete and utter moron.

  5. I’m shocked and disappointed that Rosa who is heavily involved with Family Re-Entry, a great program that assists ex-offenders, would support Bill Finch in light of his position that his school parents can’t vote because of their past.

Tiago is a zoning commissioner, his girlfriend is Mario’s niece and his bar will be the centerpiece of an upcoming investigation into Adam Wood and Bill Beccaro’s spending or rather drinking habits at Tiago’s.

    Cheers!

    1. You took the words out of my mouth. Except I think it was her sister’s son, not hers. And she’s a Republican endorsing a Democrat she can’t even vote for.

  6. As if this is really going to make much difference. Nothing will revive Finch’s flagging campaign. He doesn’t have a rat’s ass of a chance at being re-elected.
