How cool is this? It’s time for an OIB party and we’re having it at the newly renovated, fantastico Bijou Square Theatre, 275 Fairfield Avenue, downtown Bridgeport on Aug. 26. And it’s even better. If you want to stick around for a movie after the party, check out Road To Nowhere featuring “a beautiful young woman, a murder, a powerful politico.” Perfect stuff for OIB.
The theater is part of Phil Kuchma’s Bijou Square redevelopment, a mixed use of housing, retail and restaurants featuring one of the oldest movie houses in the country. This place is breathtakingly exquisite. Don’t miss this party. We’ll get started at 5:30 p.m. and last until 7. Feel free to check out this gorgeous renovation with your option to enjoy the film after the party. First cocktail on OIB and we’ll provide some delicious munchies courtesy of OIB friend Joe Tiago, owner of Bare, a soon-to-be open tapas restaurant next to the theater. (Joe also owns Tiago on State Street.) This is my kind of movie house. The good folks at Bijou Theatre have a fully stacked bar so you can enjoy your favorite cocktail while watching your favorite independent film. Join us, bring friends, watch a movie. To learn more about the Bijou see the OIB ad top left.
Lennie–free tickets for us at OIB?
Yes, you can stay and watch the show. No need to RSVP for the party, but if you want to stay for show send me an email at lenniegrimaldi@onlyinbridgeport.com
I’m coming for the food. Will Speedy and Tito and Mary-Jane be there?
No sushi. Where I come from raw fish is referred to as “bait.”
I’m in.
Come as you are or are reservations required? Inquiring minds want to know.
Sackcloth and ashes optional.
Ronin, no reservations. If the crowd overflows maybe they’ll do a double feature!
Lennie,
Did you invite the mayor? I’m sure he’d have no problem answering a few pointed questions about Bill Beccaro’s political action committee.
Ronin. For God’s sake. Come as someone else. Anyone else!!!
I’m in. Will Adam Wood be there? LOL.
Adam “Pecker” Wood will be there. Bill Beccaro’s purseful of magic coins will reimburse him for his bar tab.
Count me in.
Is the movie “Road to Nowhere” actually a documentary about Congress Street?
Hahaha, that’s a good one. Here’s an old Ernest Tubb number. It could be Bill Finch’s campaign song:
“Yes I know I’ve been untrue
And I have hurt you through and through
But please have a mercy on this heart of mine
Take me back and try me one more time …”
Wow, the Finch version of “Happy Days Are Here Again”!?!
You couldn’t schedule this while “Animal House” will be playing? Thanks a lot, Lennie …
