The late Marilyn Goldstone is unforgettable. This time of year–actually, at all times of the year–she was the city’s patron saint of the down and out. She had the voice of Harvey Fierstein and a heart that pumped compassion. She had a way of telling folks to frack off without hurting their feelings. She was a community relations lion for American Medical Response. It’s nice to see the tradition of community work continuing in her name. Mayor Finch’s office shared this announcement on behalf of the Bridgeport Police Department:

Many thanks to John Vazzano in keeping up this tradition in Marilyn’s memory.
I love Marilyn in the past, present and the future. Thank God your wonderful work continues, my friend.
*** In Marilyn’s dream, everyone near or far would contribute in some way to make a child’s holiday season a bright happy one! Whether it was a hot holiday meal or a visit by Santa with a special gift, the surprised child’s bright eyes and smile would be all she needed to warm her heart with the spirit of the holidays. Please help keep that type of holiday spirit alive by donating money or a toy to the Marine Corps “TOYS FOR TOTS” program! You can go on the TOYS FOR TOTS web site for info. or call the local program coordinator, JESSIE at (203)218-2488. Bring a smile to a child’s face for the holidays and feel all warm and fuzzy inside, no? *** HAPPY HOLIDAYS! ***
