Linda, Dick In Lip Lock

Today’s Q Poll:

Propelled by Connecticut likely voters who say they are “angry” with government, former wrestling executive Linda McMahon, the Republican U.S. Senate candidate, is closing in on Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, the Democrat, and now trails just 49 – 46 percent, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today.

This compares to a 51 – 45 percent Blumenthal lead in a September 14 likely voter survey by the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University poll, conducted by live interviewers.

In today’s survey, 4 percent are undecided and 9 percent of voters who name a candidate say they could change their mind by Election Day. Blumenthal leads 89 – 9 percent among Democrats. McMahon leads 80 – 16 percent among Republicans. Independent voters shift from 47 – 46 percent for Blumenthal September 14 to 49 – 44 percent for McMahon today. In a gender reversal, women back Blumenthal 56 – 39 percent while men back McMahon 52 – 44 percent.

The 33 percent of likely voters who say they are “angry” with the federal government support McMahon 78 – 20 percent.

“With five weeks to go, the Connecticut Senate race is very close. Attorney General Richard Blumenthal is ahead by only a statistically insignificant 3 points. Blumenthal has to be concerned about Linda McMahon’s momentum. He can hear her footsteps as she closes in on him,” said Quinnipiac University Poll Director Douglas Schwartz, PhD.

Look at that out. McMahon, besides being married to a pig with no lipstick, also has no experience. In the government you can’t insert death clauses in contracts, force other Senators to wear dog collars, write yourself a $46 million dollar check and fire most of the company. There are laws Linda. How can Linda make the Laws when she is so used to breaking the law. The Government won’t put up with being sued because of your negligence Linda. Plus what do you about the average person. You who hops on plans for international spa weeks, thousand dollar clothes and shoes. You who care more about Linda’s power that really helping anyone. What have you ever done to help people? Habitat? Give wives money for deceased wrestlers who took your steroids? Have you ever even given food to food pantry? You can scream every lie you want about Blumenthal, but he has worked tirelessly for the people. She had the Gov. appointment her to the State Department of Education so she could say she had a shred of experience. She never even attended a PTA meeting. I can’t believe we have this no experience fringe nut jobs like her and Foley running. It is frightening

  2. Things are getting pretty crazy. Like the poll here showing most people say everything going in the wrong direction. Maybe it’s time to look back in history, way back at the time of the native American Indians’ time, and also look around at what’s going on, heck, we might learn something or two …. I mean take Connecticut’s largest ghost town, Pleasure Beach, cottages are about to be demolished. Have you ever seen a ghost town demolished? Don’t believe in that stuff? Some say we are so messed up in Bridgeport, it’s about time to take this stuff seriously. And there are folks making a living on ghosts stuff, like the “East Coast Paranormal Police” 826 Paranormal, James Myers. And why would downtown Bridgeport be haunted? Old Native American Indian grounds. And there were Indian legends too. The Indians were here for what, thousands of years and we know little about them. Last weekend, after reading some document about Remington Woods forest area, we went to Stratford to find the mentioned Indian ceremonial stones which were thrown out during building of 95. They just threw out anything like that in the past.

And downtown Bridgeport is called the “teardrop,” by the way, and some say that word actually means teardrop like that Indian commercial. If you didn’t know it, the Golden Hill Indians lived there. Were their burial grounds right under city hall? I don’t know. Could be. Is that why some people say nothing that helps taxpayers gets done there? Are we paying a price for all this? Nonsense you say.

However, I am not alone in my interest …

Mayor Bill Finch, in a CT Post article: “The history of the state of Connecticut and the history of the Schaghticoke tribe are one and the same,” says Finch, who’s a history buff. “We wouldn’t be Connecticut, an Indian name, if it weren’t for the Native Americans who first lived here.”

    The Schaghticoke Tribal Nation.

Last week’s CT Post article is the topic of today’s show. The Schaghticoke tribe are seeking nation status and guess what that means? A CASINO in Bridgeport! Get ready exit 29, is that why the Ferry wants to move there?

We have the writer of that article calling in tonight to explain about the Indian tribe and we will be assisted by a renowned Bridgeport historian who will be in studio live. Both topics will begin at 8:15pm.

“Bridgeport Now” Live at 8pm on Ch88 and on soundviewtv.org. Taking on the city’s problems and trying to raise awareness of its rich history.

Oh, listen to Bill Finch in this film clip which seems to favor nation status for the Schaghticoke Indian Tribe.

  3. *** Bridgeport Now: It would be nice to have any of the Bpt state legislation on to hear them speak about what ecactly they’ve accomplished for our city while in Hartford. I’ve see other reps. on Steve Smith’s show but other than Caruso, I’ve yet to see any of the others & wonder why? *** A big Pow-Wow should be held in Bpt’s arena or Seaside Park in the Spring or Fall to bring awareness of our country’s Native American history in general. And a Casino in Bpt will never happen, developed & promoted high school & local colleges’ sports venues is the ticket! *** Back to Basics ***

    1. Depends on the tribe (and, probably to a greater degree) on the individual. Some dislike being called “Native American” and prefer “Native” as their ancestors were created on the land before any European explorers set foot on the continent. Some are really particular about being identified with their specific tribe. For a lot of younger people, “Indian” is totally inoffensive–on par with “black” in place of “African American.”

Generally, if and when someone is offended, they’ll let you know.

  4. Go Linda!

Say what you will about WWE but she and her husband built something from nothing and are hugely wealthy … Just like every other person who now runs for Senate.

Blumenthal is an empty suit who was born into a great resume, married even better and is nothing more than a two-bit narcissistic hack.

I’m not a WWE fan but I’ll take somebody who faced tough times and survived over yet another career politico with no balls.

  5. Oh, please. What tough times? You drank her $50 million kool-aid. 30 years ago she and Vince merrily filed bankruptcy, discharged their debt and started a new company. Don’t think for one minute she gave up getting her manicures or lived even at the middle class level. Vince’s dad had plenty of money too. Dick has actually been fighting for people for 30 years not lining his pockets with steroid-injected human beings.

  6. johnb Maybe you should research Blumenthal as closely as you did McMahon. I don’t like either one. Both millionaires and both don’t have a clue as to what is going on in working families.

  7. Linda and spouse in All American fashion went with public tastes in entertainment/sports and joined with technology of the day to create a personal fortune. It’s not Carnegie Hall or the Met, kind of borders on opera, but you can always run the risk of overestimating public taste. If WWE is vulgar and doesn’t hold women in sufficient regard, well Vince isn’t running. And Linda is using her own “after tax” money.
The other guy has been running for years and paid with the public purse to build a large law firm of which he is the star.
Politically perhaps he has overrun his opportunity to run for this Federal office in a year that seemed like a shoe-in, except the public mood and current is running hard against the party in power. Guess election day will give us the answer. But will it provide surprises?

In the meantime I guess Mayor Finch is providing history lessons about City and State. Perhaps he can tell us about how the original settlers handled currency or wampum that would be of some guidance to us today. Or in more recent times, how did the City fare under the fabled financial scrutiny of Jasper McLevy? I am sure that there are some lessons that we have not yet heard and for a change it would be good to get the whole story.

  8. Under the Socialist McLevy, the city operated under the radical theory that you shouldn’t spend money you don’t have.

Not sure how that applies to politics in the 21st Century, or how much wampum you have in your wallet.

  9. Is it just me or does Quinnipiac Poll Director Douglas Schwartz’s opinion on the latest results have a decided McMahon slant to them? And not just this poll’s results either. I thought legitimate pollsters were supposed to maintain some semblance of impartiality or neutrality. Guess I must be wrong again.

  10. Mayor Mandanici was my favorite Bridgeport mayor in my lifetime. What do you think he would think about the current mayoral race, the governor’s race and the senate race?
