Latest Progress Update For Resilient Success Village Residents

If you want to check the pulse of Success Village, a mini-community of roughly 1,000 units and 2,000 residents split between Bridgeport and Stratford that endured nightmarish heat and hot water issues now moving in the right direction with court-appointed receiver attorney Barry Knott (and the team he assembled) in place, check out the Success Village Community Facebook page.

Talk about every kind of emotion that flows from things many of us take for granted – no heat or hot water for months, betrayed by former management – the SV residents are a study in resiliency sharing camaraderie, information, insight and trepidation.

When a World War II-era infrastructure is neglected things break. And it did.

Here’s the latest update to co-op owners and residents from the management team tasked with restoring health sanity.

**Good Afternoon Owners, **
This email is being sent to update owners on current heat & hot water issues throughout the property. Updates are as follows:

Lack of Heat in Units
Boilers 4 & 5, along with the two (2) temporary boilers, are now up and running at full capacity. We expect to see heat being provided throughout the complex.
We are expecting to address repairs to the 8″ Main Trunk Line early next week as we await parts for repair.

List of Current Steam Leaks
We are still addressing repairs to leaks throughout the property based on severity.
There are currently leaks in the crawlspaces of Buildings 17, 19, 23, 26, 27, 61 and 77 and are we working to get these resolved.

Steam line repairs have been made in Buildings 35, 39, 87 & 91.
We are hopeful that all units will be receiving heat over the weekend with the recent addition of the second temporary boiler being fully operational. Again, we are working extremely hard to get all systems up and running and expect to see dramatic upgrades prior to the holidays. We appreciate your understanding as we work through this challenging endeavor and we will continue to provide updates as they become available.

Sincerely,
Kevin Dzikowski – CAM, CMCA

  1. So, no mention of the financial (owner) liabilities incurred in the course of this progress or of future financial liabilities as progress continues?
Will government step up and help to make these people (owners) whole — even as the embezzlers that brought them to this point are identified and prosecuted and the full story of why and how this happened is priced together by investigators?

  2. Pursuing the Facebook page for Success Village leads to a posting that Attorney Knott has disclosed an amount of $5.3 Million dollars in debt that the entity owes including the funds from Bridgeport and Stratford. There is no more detail than that, though there are folks who are questioning other financial issues.
No one comments on the failure of the City of Bridgeport mayors for over 20 years failing to install qualified members of a Fair Housing Commission. They are a body that may have been helpful to owners when they raised issues and let the City administrators realize there was a large, expensive, issue threatening many residents at Success, and other condo sites in the City possibly. Time will tell.
