Bridgeport Theatre Company presents the heart-warming, quirky, fun-filled holiday play “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever,” based on the book by Barbara Robinson. Fairfield County’s newest theatre company presents nine wonderfully funny performances, featuring many of your favorite holiday songs, from December 3-December 19, 2010; Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 3pm, @ the Playhouse on the Green, located at 177 State Street, Downtown Bridgeport.
The six Herdman children are the terror of the town! When they take over the annual Christmas pageant, no one is prepared for this outlaw family who invades church one Sunday in search of free candy and treats. None of the Herdmans have ever heard the Christmas story before. Their interpretation of the tale–the Wise Men are a bunch of dirty spies and Herod needs a good beating, appalls the parents but interests the kids in seeing the story in a whole new light; in the end the Herdmans teach everyone about the true meaning of Christmas. Everyone is touched by the simple faith of the Herdmans and they end up praising them for making it “the best Christmas pageant ever.”
This fun show with a whole lot of heart is appropriate for all ages and is a great holiday outing for the whole family.
