Gomes Leads Ganim, Pending Absentee Ballots

Here we go again, with most precincts reporting John Gomes has a lead over Mayor Joe Ganim by 563 votes, according to unofficial returns.

Still to be counted absentee ballots. Ganim will certainly cut into the margin but will it be enough?

Either way, it once again raises the specter of the Ganim campaign’s reliance on absentee ballots that became the central issue of Superior Court Judge William Clark ordering a new Democratic primary.

If Gomes prevails in this vote he’s mayor elect and will withdraw his lawsuit.

Even if Ganim wins via absentees, can he survive another head-to-head primary against Gomes.

Stay tuned.
